Ok....well just recently after getting installing the new ECU and getting my car up and running again the oil light started to flicker. I checked the oil and its good just a tad below MAX .....also i had just changed it before the ECU went so it only has about 400 miles on the oil....i used a mopar filter and advanced auto parts brand 5w-30 oil. It has been runing great and maybe just about 150 miles ago was when the oil light started to flicker. But it dosent flickr at idle or when i rev the engine sitting still....it only flickers when the tires move. I can put it in neutral and just move a little at a time down my drive way and it will go on and off. Sometimes it will stay on but if i drift back a foot or so it will go back out again. Anyone have a cluse as to what might be going on? Also can anyone tell me where the pressure sensor unit is located at on a 420a? Thanks.

check the oil bressure sending unit. should be by the oil filter housing. the wire may be bad.

i got the car up on ramps but i dont know what the looks like. All i could see was some type of sensor with a wiring harness like 3 wires pointing upward above the oil filter. Also once i do find it where can i get a new sensor for reletively cheap?

The sending unit on the 420a should be on the back side of the block. You can reach it from the engine bay. If I remember right it's the only sensor there and it sits just above the exhaust manifold.

ok well ill have to get under the car tomorrow to find the sensor .....but i definetly think its shorting somewhere because, i just went out and checked and the light flickers even with the engine not running and the key on ACC. So im thinkign it would have to be a short or could it stil possibly be a bad fuel pump or bad sensor?

A fuel pump shouldn't have anything to do with it? It's probably just the sensor going bad. Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure guage so you can see what your oil pressure is really at? The sensor in question does little more than trigger the oil light so it's not much to worry about but should be replaced if it's going bad.

i meant oil pump sorry about that ......anyway im hoping its just a short or possibly the sensor going bad....no i dont have a pressure guage installed but if i hav eto put a new sensor in im going to put an oip pressure guage in there too. Ill have to get the car up on ramps in the next couple of days and see if i can find the sensor.

cool, you may be able to reach it from the engine bay. your arm placed backside of engine & tranny. under the intake. a switch with a funny looking hex head. you can hook up a manual oil pressure guage there if you like, to check your true pressure. or check for loose connector. & pray you've got a good oil pump. because changing the oil pump is ..... well lets put it this way i just changed one..on the same engine... it aint fun. If you have to replace the pump, you may feel free to ask me some questions about doing it. there is some things that are needed to know about this pump that are not explained at all in the box w/ new pump.
