I had an oil leak for about three days, I finally saw where the leak was coming from and it's from the oil pressure switch. I unplugged the switch and was trying to remove the sensor but of course you need a special tool to remove it so I wasn't able to remove it today. I plugged the connector back on and tried to start the car but it wont turn over now. It cranks but it wont turn over. My question is, would the oil leak cause the sensor to crap out and thus not allow the engine to turn over?

um imo (no) it should not have anything to do with your car starting... i had the same problem but decided to put a bolt instead of the switch..... and it started with no problem..!!!

Damn, not looking good. The electrical connector got covered in oil and I tried to clean it off and I felt a shock. I thought it might have shorted out something. If you put a bolt there instead then what do you do about the oil pressure? Doesn't the ECU look for a signal from the switch?

yes it looks for a signal but the light and gauge dont bother me for the moment.... as like i stated on my last posts... i dont care if i blow mine up.... ifyou felt shock.. then check for blown fuses or check your ecu... make sure your getting spark and fuel.....

I guess i am on the same scenario as you. Any update with this one? Have you already resolved the problem? What have you done with this?

I ended up just buying the socket to remove the switch, it sucks because it was around $10-$15 and I only used it once. I popped the new sensor in and cleaned up the harness and it worked like a charm.
