i noticed oil spots in my garage today. i looked under my car and i noticed that theres a slow leak right near my oil filter. there was a slow slow drip coming from one of the bolts. ### should i do? i was thinki nabout just taki nit to a shop tomorrow ### they got a lift. my car is low and i unfortunatly dont have a lift. should i just take it there and ask them to fix it for me. i know one of the guys that works there so i wont get ripped off.

Sometimes the oil filter slighty backs off on DSMs so I've heard, but have never experienced (i've had 3 so far) But I do know 2/3 of the ones I had did drip ever so slightly from the oil pump assemly. All had higher mileage, seals probably going bad on them. Get a $20 dollar jack from Advance Auto, clean up the area. Start it up. Have a buddy rev it a bit. Shut it off. And look.

I know a common place for leaking is by the valve cover gasket, then start dripping to the bottom and confuse some people.

Another place and really common is by the oil filter which might be loose. Try by hand to make sure it is not loose. If it is buy a new oil filter and install it. (don't reuse the old one)

But the best thing to do is clean the engine bay. And run the car just to make sure from where the oil is leaking....

Then post back to see where is actually coming from.
