i just put another motor in my car and not even two days later my alternator goes out and i also find when i pull my radiator cap that there is almost more oil than water in there. i checked the oil and i was low but there was no antifreeze in it. is this just the headgasket or is there other problems? the motor is out of a 95.

the oil thats left in the engine still looks brand new. i just put it in there2 days ago and had less than 150 miles on the new engine (new to me with about 36,000miles on it). im getting ready to order the cometic head gasket and ARP stud kit but i want to be sure thats the problem.

Has the HG been blown on this engine before? I had "residual" oil in the water passages and radiator when my hg blew previously. There was oil in coolant and coolant in oil. The oil stuck to everything in the waterways. It took a good flushing to keep the "milky stuff" from re-occuring. . .

The same exact thing happened to me and it ended up being the turbo. My warranty replaced the oil cooler first and that didn't help. Then I got a brand new AWESOME T-25. It is sweet!!! Check your turbo that is probably it, Keith.

did coolant mix into the oil when the seals went out of your turbo? the turbo is supposed to have less the 4k on it. it came with the motor.(evoIII 16g)

There was no coolant in the oil just oil in my coolant. My turbo didn't really have any shaft play.....well I guess for a t25 any shaft play is bad. Check the play on the turbo and if you have another turbo sitting around that you can use, swap them and flush your coolant system. You will have to flush it quite a few times and then see if that fixes it. Good luck, Keith.

its going to be either your hg, oil cooler or turbo (if your turbo is water cooled) as mentioned above. chances are that your oil cooler is the problem. i had the exact same thing happen to me when my factory oil cooler went bad. its had to visually check the oil cooler without removing it, unless there is something obvously visable (somewhat unlikely). its the inner fins of the oil cooler that get crushed and creates a passage for oil and coolant to mix together.

it turned out to be the headgasket. i replaced it with a cometic metal hg and ARP. my car runs great not but i dont know if i will ever get all the oil out of the cooling system.
