I have a 1991 :talon: Talon, Fresh New built trans, evo III, hardpiped, full 2.5" exhaust, and so on.

Problems:

Satan stripped about 4 studs out of my exhaust studs. What should i do?

Oil continues to accumulate inside my valve cover, wipe it off and drive the car and i smell burning oil, and theres oil back inside the valve cover, went through 3 brand new oil caps. What could it be.

I got new KYBs front and rear, new right lower control arm, but i feel like my cars going to fall apart, i get a clunk in the rear end when accelerateing from R to 1st, and the driver side feels loose, garage heard clunk but cant seem to find the problem on driver side.

Most importantly, the car is being boosted 12 psi's on an evo III, how fast should it be seems slow, like a little over my nonturbo, sounds good but just slow, i had it at about 125. It doesnt seem to throw me in the back seat, like my 95

PLease any help on these problems i would be happy.

first for the exhaust studs....pull the manifold off (chances are you will strip more since 4 have already stripped) and yank all the remaining studs out. get a helacoil kit and start drilling out the stud holes. helcoils hold up very well so you don't have to worry about overtighting them.

for the CLUNK....it is probably excess play in the transfer case. try rebuilding that as well since you did the transmission. when you put it in first and change the rotation of the drive shaft to forward gears, the age of your Tcase really shows. mine does the same thing.

if you are having a large exhaust leak before the turbo i.e. broken or stripped studs you are gonna feel a pretty large fall in power

Check the valve cover for cracks. Especially around the bolt holes that hold the factory spark plug wire cover in place. My friends would constantly leak oil in the cover and we finally found that one of these bolt holes went all the way through the valve cover.

Pull off your manifold and replace all the exhaust studs/nuts.. Forced Performance sells them for $18.. That will also help with the slow feeling since you obviously have a pre-turbo exhaust leak..

For the valve cover, do like others said and pull it off and check for cracks.. Also, replace the gasket.. Use some RTV if you want to..

Hmmm..must be a lemon..i'll give you 200 bucks for it. LOL j/k

I get that same "clunk" when going from Reverse to 1st in my front end.. replaced the lower control arm and tightened everything up and still had it. The next option is i'm thinking it's the CV shafts getting too much play in them from years of abuse. Sometimes the spring will move in it's "rest" and make similar noises from moving back and forth. WE get a lot of that in the Porshe 968 track cars at work. Usually there's nothing to do about it except get some rubber and line the areas where the spring rests on the bottom. I'm not saying that's your issue, but it's something to think about or look into, but i would put more concern into it being teh CV joint.

Its never ending with my car, turns out today when i push the throttle in i hear a horrible knocking, at about 2 grand, and i feel the knock from the valve cover, but about 2500 the knocking stops, and at idle its fine any idea's guys.
