Oil in valve cover

Hello i was woundering if this was a common issue my car leaks (i think leaks) oil in the valve cover theres a bunch of oil in with my spark plug wires built up by the bolts holding down the cover. I was thinking of taking out the bolts and filling the holes with RVT or something? anyone have any ideas of what to try

your spark plug tube seal are probably shot. or your vc is cracked. I can't imagine filling the holes with rtv would fix anything I feel like it would do more harm than good.

Most likely its your valve cap seal, mine was turned to plastic, $18 dealer item and problem solved.

You don'tneed a new gasket do you? b/c i had teh same issue until i just replaced mine. make sure you clean the crap out of the cover, and where the gasket goes, a lot of crap comes out if you use a steel wire brush. eye can't see it until you scrub with degreaser!

If the gasket is bad, oil can slip by the bolts and pool in the spark plug galley. If the valve cover is cracked, the same thing will happen. The crack may not be visible but may leak under boost. Also, a warped valve cover will leak too. I had a warped valve cover that was leaking pretty bad. I tested it by laying it on a flat surface and tried to rock it side to side. It was very warped since it moved a lot and wouldn't lay flat. I fixed the leaks by installing a new valve cover gasket kit and another valve cover. After the bolts were torqued properly, the leaks were completely gone (During the next couple days, the bolts loosened a little and had to be re-torqued to specs-This is normal).

I know right now my oil cap gasket is gone, I did a boost leak test and once i hit past 15 psi air and a little bit of oil comes out of the cap.
So every once an while i have a thin glaze of oil on my vavle cover.
I ordered a Mobile 1 oil cap, should be here soon.
Boost leak at PCV valve and oil cap...

yeah most likely the whole thing just needs replaced. These are very prone to leaking, mine was coming in everywhere. bolt holes, spark plug hole seals, any of those rubber pieces right there. I got mine from fel-pro for like 25 bucks or something like that for the whole set. VC gasket, all 4 spark plug seals and the little half moon plug at the end of the exhaust cam. Also had the oil cap problem too.

your crankcase shouldn't be getting pressurized from a boostleak test, you probably need a new pcv valve.

Also,check the neck where the oil cap tightens onto the valve cover,somehow mine developed a crack on the back side,and oil was leaking onto the back of my cover. The front of the neck could be cracked,and leaking oil into the sparkplug area. Weird area to crack,my oil cap fits snug but not super tight,and never leaks.

yea you def. should. Positive pressure in the crankcase will cause blow by and if its bad enough it can blow out your rear main and cam seals.
