Milton,
Hi again,

I'm going to be installing an upgraded oil cooler. I'm going with the exact same oil cooler setup Mavisky posted in his post (Great write-up btw) here : http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220259&highlight=oil+cooler

I have a 2g in which I am currently swapping 6-bolt.

Here's my question.

Here's the oil cooler housing that came with my swap:

To me it appears to be the correct 1990 oil cooler housing needed for this upgrade. What do you guys think?

Also, notice it's missing the gold cylinder thingy that is in Mavisky pics. What exactly is that? Is that the oil pressure sending unit? If so, wouldn't that piece come with an aftermarket oil pressure gauge?

Thanks.

Yes, That is the 1990 oil filter housing for the air cooled cooler. And yes, that is the oil sending unit, yours should have come with one I suppose.
Mike
Can never remeber which one is the oil light, and which is the gauge though.

Thanks for your help. I know it should have came with the sending unit but because I bought the engine from an importer, he probably sold it off.

The JDM engines have a strange sending unit configuration that only uses 1 sending unit instead of the 2 in my writeup.

So what should I do as far as a sending unit then?

Transfer over the big round one from your factory housing. It runs your guage, the small one just runs the light.

HAHAH sorry for the hi-jack, but I just got my 4g63 jdm n/t running today.... bought it from a junk-yard and installed it last year.. right. So al of the sudden it start leaking oil like a siv, so i quick shut it down. The rat-bastards at the junk-yard remove the oil press. sending unit and used a black cap to plug it. Thank God i shut it down right away, I have never seen oil shoot out of a car so fast. Anyways, I just grabed the 1 off my junk 4g63 and WOOHOO nomore oil leak.!!
