So I am about to start torquing my head down on a brand new oem composite head gasket, and I look on the corner of the head below the oil feed port, and there is oil coming from between the head gasket and head. The head has been tanked so I am sure its not leaking on there. Should I pull the head back off and clean it off or not worry about it? I think it came from the head stud holes.

im not going to tell you want to do in this situation, because you dont have pics or anything. it depends where the oil is on it too. If its not to hard you could take the head off, clean the spot and put it back on. I know a guy that forgot to torque the head down the 3rd step and the headgasket started leaking. he tightened it down and it still worked. It was a truck, no boosted or anything. you will probably be ok. i know that i get oil on the headgasket sometimes when i mount the head, but i try not to get any on it.

Wouldn't it just push it towards the outside when I tighten it down to proper torque sequence? I don't think its much, but if it has to be done, it has to be done and I have to move a few steps back.

Like said you should be ok. If it worrys you then pull it off and clean it, unless you had it semi torqued then get another HG and start over.

Did you put too much oil on the studs when you installed them? Was your head decked while it was out (possible machining error)? How much torque when it started leaking?

In my opinion, you already have this thing completely apart, so check it out now; if you put it all together and it turns out to not be something so easy as residual oil, you're going to kick yourself.
