hi everybody i am new to this forum so i hope i am posting in the right spot. i am almost always on galantvr4.org. well any ways i have a problem, i just recently got done with a complete rebuild of my 4g63t in my vr4. everything is new except the big16g turbo. i am noticeing a small cloud of smoke comeing out exhaust and a lot of oil spraying out also, could this b from my turbo? i noticed wen i took it off my old engine there was a small crack inside of it but i forgot to take a second look at it. there is also a small cloud of smoke coming out the ehhaust mani but i think that is just oil burning off since it probly was sitting in oil wen i was swapping it over. any advice or ideas would be apreacieted. oh also i have ran the engine for a god awfull amount of times and none of it disipates except for the manifond smoke.

yea thats what i figured:banghead:, anyone have a estimated price for a rebuild and possible links for the parts

before you rip the turbo out check to see if the oil return line is kinked. if it is it would be forsting oil back into the turbo and sending it out the exhaust causeing white smoke

yea no its not kinked i just put a new one on during rebuild because old was kinked

Check the inside of your piping as well, if your turbo is blasting oil your piping will be nicely coated along with your intercooler.

You actually have oil coming out the end of the exhaust? If it is leaking that much oil past the seals than you would have major smoke coming out the exhaust. It would be like a diesel truck pretty much. Are you sure that it isn't just carbon mixed with moisture?

Pull the intake pipe and check the turbo for shaft play. If its excessive, I can almost promise you the turbine seal is shot and thats where your smoke is coming from.

I have learned that if your PCV Valve is not functioning properly, it will put enough pressure to blow oil past your turbine seals. I have a rebuilt 16g that had no miles since the rebuild pushing oil into my exhaust, and it was due to the PCV not functioning.

Technically Oil can also be white, Oil pushed by my turbine seal and it smoked white...... and I know its oil because its leaking out the cartridge on the turbo.
