ok ive searched but im putting together the beast ( LOL ) and im checking the clearance i believe there fine but i would like some advice to make myself feel better the clearance with the plastigage is showing .002 in on all of the mains.. here is a pic.. not the best but i tryed haha

Don't you have the manual? .002" is fine. I've run anywhere from .001", to .004" depending on the intended use of the engine. Factory spec is .0008"-.002", with a service limit of .004".
 
yes i do have the manual as it says i would like peoples advice about it. .0008-.002 is a pretty big gap if you ask me. but thanks for the input
 
Your mark looks slightly narrower then 0.002", unless its an artifact from the image. I would take that more as 0.0025", which is still 0.0015" under the service limit. Its very hard to get such tight measurements using plasti-gague. When I did my build my mark was wider then the 0.002" plasti-gauge I bought, so I went right to my micrometers. I like my oil clearances as close to 0.0015" as I can get, without going over 0.0020". That's just me though :D

i build hp engines in school, you setup looks fine but also we NEVER use plstigauge we measire everything with a mic and check our clearances that way

ya i believe im just gonna mic. it ive never used plastigage with my other builds thought it would of been faster LOL
