My car overheated a month ago and i am just now getting around to changing the headgasket. I saw where it was coming from, just under the thermoustat. I took the head off and the headgaket is not blown, nor from what I could tell the head wasnt warped. I know it was the headgasket because i could see where the oil and antifreeze was coming out from and it is all over the top of my transmission. Please tell me what is going on.

Was it coming from just the thermoustat housing or was it actually coming from where the head and block meet? Check and make sure the head is not cracked in the area you seen the fluid. Let me know what you see or some a picture of this a very close one if possible.

Wipe the area clean and make sure it's coming from a gasket first and if's not you might a crack in that area I just want out and looked at my friends 93 GSX too see where it might be coming from. Also to tell if it mixed inside the motor check the dip stick and pc valve. Also start you the car after you wipe the area clean and see exactly where it's coming from but of course watch the temp.

I've popped several head gaskets that I thought I could have reused, if I were in pinch. The gaskets looked fine it was the head bolts that were the problem as the head "lifted" and stretched the bolts breaking hte seal. The head gasket in all these cases lood fine. Does the number 4 combustion chamber look cleaner than the others? this would curantee the bolts have stretched and caused you to bowyour headgasket, though you have no apparent damage to it.

What was weird is that the car would not start up after it overheated. So please help me.

I drained the oil and there was no antifreeze in there, but there is some in the antifreeze, it is discolored and smells like oil.
