Let me start by saying that I know little to nothing about suspension and I'm guessing this is a pretty simple question but I want to do things right the first time. That being said my new project car (1992 Laser RS AWD) needs, along with many other things, new struts. My question is, with a relatively conservative goal of a 300-350hp street car with rare track days, should I invest in coilovers or just get direct OE replacements? If coilovers which ones do you suggest and where can I find them? Once again any help is greatly appreciated and I am already feeling the love of the DSM community.

Ok. Bone head question #2. How are springs rated and what's the average. I've read them rated in Kg with higher being stiffer. Is that the norm? If so should I be looking in the 9kg range or higher and should the backs be stiffer or should they all be the same?

It depends on what type of driving you intend on doing. Do you want a good ride which is more comfortable, but less handling. Or a slightly stiffer ride, with better handling.
