When I bought my car, I was looking around and noticed it was repainted. It was a just black from what I could see on the door jambs. I did some more looking at the paint quality and I noticed my car had a pinstripe on it. At least one on the passenger side.. I can't see a groove on the driver's side.

One day I accidentally came across the guy who owned my car 3 owners ago, 800 miles away (crazy right?). I asked him about the paint and he said the car did in fact have a pinstripe. The car was black (with a red hood from the kid who owned it before him in NC) with a silver pinstripe on both sides, and this was the OE paint - except the hood. He was also the guy who repainted this car at.... Maaco -_-

So I'm looking around on the Internet just to see if there's other 2g DSM's that are black with a silver pinstripe. I only found ONE and that car was an '95 RS.

Does anyone else have a black GST with a silver pinstripe? Or at least used to have one? Pics appreciated! You might be the old owner of my car LOL.

Never seen a turbo car with pinstripes, but my old 95 RS had purple pinstripes on white paint.

I have seen some with pin stripes.
I think that the dealerships put them on at the lot.

Not sure about that because I just got back from the dealership and even on the VIN does it show being a "two toned colored car." Meaning black with that silver pinstripe. The dealership also told my car is from Texas... How it made it from Texas to MI baffles me.

But yea I only found one black with silver pinstripe N/A DSM. I have seen a handful of silver/red pinstriped N/A's also. But none like mine.

Post up a pic as i would love to see this as ive never heard of our cars having pinstriping on them

Here is a picture with the factory pin stripes, I wouldn't consider it a two tone.
I think the second picture is an aftermarket pin stripe.

Eh, I guess they did come out black and silver. I would't consider them two tone either, that's why I put them in quotes. But thing is, where I live, I almost never see DSMs. I only know two other guys with DSMs, in which one is a 420a and the other a heavily modded 6 bolt. Neither have pinstripes.

I would, but the guy who had my car 3 owners ago repainted my car. I wish my car stuck to its OE paint. But in my opinion, the pinstripe doesn't make the car look as clean. Man, I wish I could see what my car looked like back in its day. OE rims and paint and all.

I seem to remember back in the mid '90's when my girlfriend at the time and i bought a new 2ga gs, that i wanted the silver gs-t that she said we couldn't afford. It definately had pin stripes sitting in the showroom of stohlman mitsubishi in tysons corner (northern Va)

I had a silver 97 rs and it had pin stripes also.

Non turbo like almost 90% of them LOL.

Most dealerships put them on themselves. At the honda dealership i worked at, they put on 100% of the pinstriping. There was no such thing as oem pinstripes. Mitsubishi could be different though.

I wonder why they left the dealership to do them, and why they even wanted to do them to being with. I think it should be been up to the purchaser to decide if he/she wanted pinstripes. It's the look of the 90's but I still think it doesn't make the car look as clean.

Mine came with one, looks horrible in my opinion. I used a label/sticker remover then clay bar and buffed it, so much better now

Luckily my car was repainted from black to charcoal gray metallic before I got it. It looks good, but I wish the last guy didn't use Maaco to repaint it. Is it me though or does it seem DSM paint get sundamaged really easily? Once in a while when I do see a DSM, the paint looks horrible.

.

Because they can charge you $250 as an option for putting on a sticker that cost them $2 :D

I've never been a fan of pinstripes either, but some people do like them
