Ok heres the thing, when I floor it in any gear the boost jumps to 15psi (what I set it at) then very quickly falls to 10, then goes to about 7-8 as I climb in rpms. The thing is that I checked for boost leaks and found a couple throughout the piping and I also heard air coming from the injectors when I put 20psi through it(I wiggled them and it stopped)? But the main thing I think it is, is the crack in the exhaust housing on the 14b that I installed about 3 days ago, it goes straight through and goes into the wastegate flapper.

Another question I have is, is it possible to weld the crack by the flapper? Or should I just go on ebay and get a used exhaust housing? if I go that route is it easy to swap exhaust housings out that easy? Any help will be much appreciated.

that would not have any effect on the amount of boost that is making its way into the motor.
he said he has boost leak from his injectors, cracked/broken/missing o-rings could cause that

i'll replace those, thats nice and easy/cheap. but the main question is of the exhaust housing and the crack, i doubt the injectors would let out that much boost ;)

i know but i just offered what i knew, cant help with your big issue. but any boost leak is a problem, no matter the size, and it doesnt take much of a hole to be a big issue.

and MOST DEFINATELY not an issue to give me negative rep for....thanks

I've been fixing boost leaks for the past few days. I reseated my injectors with Sil-Glide and solved of the 4 leaks. I fixed all of the others, but even with just one leaking my boost drops from 10psi to 8-9 by 5,000 - 5,500 rpm and starts to stutter. I think the injector leak could be a substantial problem for you. Only way to tell is to fix it of course :)

You should just replace the housing. I had mine welded and it did not work or say, it last a month. "I don't think we could weld casting", thats what the machine shop said and I forced them to do it for 10 bucks anyways. :notgood:

Don't waste your time taking the housing out to get it weld, do it the right way and buy a new one. I've learn it the hard way, its a pain taking out the turbo twice. But once the turbo is out, the housing bolts right in easily.

I've got mine from Ebay, 7cm housing new $100. I still have my welded housing if you want it. Free

ok thanks, i guess i should change it out regardless. so much for the welding. once i take off the housing do i need any gaskets or anything to switch it? also what problems did your car have when it was installed? anything like mine?

My car was rich anytime I drove it, do to the leak = boost lags. I can smell and see the exhaust gas leaking thru the housing in the mornings when its cold. In the morning check for that. Its a good idea to get a new gasket but I just reused mine and it works fine. From wat I remember, there is only 4 bolts to the O2 housing, plus the center turbo clamps and your all done. Just don't scatch the turbine fins when taking it apart. It might take you a good 2 hours to do this, taking out the turbo and putting it back in is the fun part.

Good luck

ok cool thanks, the only thing is that the boost spikes immediately then goes down to about 7-8 at redline(stock wastegate psi) so maybe its even the mbc contributing somehow. i have to check everything out tomorrow, and yes i love turbo installs. best reward is doing it yourself :thumb:
