I think I've read just about every boost leak post out there...

I have all of the intake/exhaust bolt-on mods to reduce air restrictions minus the exhaust manifold and o2 housing. I recently installed a dejon 2.5" intake pipe and have hit fuel cut twice at 1/2 throttle in second gear. I have also heard tons of air rushing (either in or out of the engine), not whistling, when the turbo spools up until I go WOT, at which point I don't really hear the air anymore... The car seems to idle and run fine generally, but it doesn't seem to pull as hard as it should be... I can generally hold a steady 15 psi, according to my boost gauge.

So I built a leak tester and attached it to the turbo inlet (yes I'm using a ghey bike pump). Right away, I was getting no pressure and air was escaping from the valve cover breather. Is it possible that my crank is just in the wrong position? I don't really have any other symptoms of anything else. If it is, how do I check and fix that? I also notice air escapes from the dipstick tube when I pull it out. Beyond that, if I cap all of that off, I can't tell where the air is going. If I pump 20+ times, wait 10 seconds, and pull a cap, the air will come rushing out. If I wait like... 30 seconds to a minute, there will be no air. However, I don't hear/see any leaks. Is it pointless to check if air is coming out of places like the dipstick? What should be my next move here?

Here's a silly side question.. I've read that the throttle plate is supposed to block air from entering the manifold during the test. But if this is the case, then how is a boost gauge tapped into the intake manifold supposed to read pressure? Or is the air *supposed* to enter that area, but stop at the valves inside the engine?

Thanks in advance.

So I tested this again and I can get the boost gauge to hit about 1.4 lbs of boost, however, it doesn't stay above this. When I do get it to that point, it will then very slowly drain down to 0 boost (as usual). I noticed that air is coming out of the tail pipe.... yay! :barf:

Should I just cap the UICP at the throttle body, test for leaks, fix them and call it a day? Or should I really worry that air is leaking all the way through and attempt fixing that?
