Okay, so a few of you know that I just bought a '95 TSi a few days ago. I have been having a fuel issue with it and am in the process of getting it fixed.

This is the question I have now.

When I bought the car from the guy he told me that he had it tuned specifically to do the following...

first gear run: 8 PSI

second gear run: 16 PSI

third gear run: ~18 PSI.

Well, here is the funny part. The car has NO boost controller. None. In first you can hear but don't really feel the turbo spool up. But as soon as I hit second its like a new animal. Just friggin GOES!

I have had a fuel issue so I can't drive the car right now.

But also, he has his boost reference lines set up very odd.

FROM the BOV to a 3 way. One from the BOV, one to the IM and then one to the WG?

I have never seen that before. Very odd to me.

I have heard that the car was set up to have a "delayed" vacuum set up. I wouldn't know for sure if that has anything to do with this.

I know its weird though. And the car does have a S-AFC if that makes a difference. e

Alright, from what I see there are definitely a couple things wrong here. All of which circled in yellow.

1. As mentioned before, your blow off valve is not recirculated. In case you did not know, it should be. This can cause a couple different problems. So, unless you are running a GM MAF or speed density, you should get that recirculated. I know that the Greddy-RS or knockoff, whichever you have, do not come with recirculation kits.

2. The nipples that you have on the intake, they should be capped off if not in use. It would not be a boost leak, but more of a vacuum leak.

3. You have your wastegate t'd off into your blow off valve. This is not the proper way of sourcing a vacuum trace. Your blow off valve should have its own independent line, to ensure proper function. The best spot for a wastegate to read a boost source is the closest to the turbo as you can get it. Something like a J-pipe nipple would be ideal. It is not hard to get one welded on.

good eye dude!!! OMG

I didn't look close enough to notice the naked nipples

Well you got a new one on the way anyway, see how the car goes with that in...I still think you need a boost leak test pretty badly, you know anyone in your area who has a tester for you to borrow??

well I spent almost 2 hours running around looking for parts and putting together this boost leak tester. I spent about $30 for everything needed to make it plus tools I didn't have, and needed to make it too.

or you can just go with this one here which should fit perfectly on your 16g, and for way less. check it out

I know my buddy has one but it is for his G60 turbo, so its a little too big. I'll have to make something to fit the 16.

If you have a nipple on the J-pipe, use it. It is the best boost source you can get. Hook a line from your wastegate to the J-pipe. Then hook a line from your blow off valve to your intake manifold.

Does the BOV need to go to one of the vacuum lines right above the throttle body? I have heard thats where it needs to be. I wouldn't think it would matter too much?

You have a line that runs from the blow off valve to where the highlighted green line is routed and attatched to the intake manifold. In the end, you should have a line that follows the highlighted red route, which would be a solid line, eliminating a T of any sorts.

Just out of curiosity it's a little off subject but how much boost can a stock 7 Bolt stand?? well of course with some supporting mods like turbo back,DP,MBC,Cam,Cam Gears ect.... :talon:

Okay cool. I will be doing that tomorrow. Thats how I planned to run it but was unsure if that's where it needed to be.

And another thought that I recently inquired, if your J-pipe in fact has a nipple on it, is it capped off? If not, that is a boost leak.

And there is a cap on the nipple. Unless it popped off in the last 20 hours. I did notice that my FMIC piping had been blown off. Not sure how but I did fix that today.

Yeah I was thinking about that as well. I need to just run through everything. I haven't had a ton of time to search over it all. But now I have some key things I want to fix.

Well its still doing the same thing. I drove it yesterday and the only new problem is that the WG wasn't opening. Which I think was due to the vacuum line set up. SO I saw 19-20 psi and freaked the heck out. I changed the lines and what not, but I am not going to boost the car without the wideband.
