I believe my obdII port is bad, where can i find another port and do i just switch it out by cutting the old wires and then splice them on to the new OBDII port????

how the hell does a port get bad when it's inside the car? it's probably not the port, but the computer that sends the codes.

but yes, if you believe the port is bad, find one at the junkyard, snip it off, and then replace yours with it by snipping the wires and the connecting them again like you asked about.

i have checked my computer and all the wiring from the ecu to the obdII port. For some reason i am only getting 1v at pin 1 when it should be 4.5v. I try down by the ecu and get 4.5v. I tried swapping the wire out and still only 1v. Whenever i measure at the obdII port itself that is all i get.

so i just found out my ecu and 2g dsmlink adapter are good leading me to believe my obdII port is bad, when i switch it out can i use any obdII port or do i have to get one specifically from a 2g dsm???? Never had to do this before but im pretty sure this is the problem as my pocketlogger wouldnt hook up to it either. HELP!!!!

Make sure before you snip that harness. Try using a meter where you can pin into the wire before you snip it, might just be somethin wrong with the metal piece inside the connector. Are you using a T-pin?

All OBD II ports are the same from Kia to BMW, they are generic to all cars, in a sort of generic location and all the pins are exactly the same. If you want to check the port pin 4 (4th on on the top row from the left) and pin 16(bottom row all the way on the right). 4 is the chassie ground and 16 is the battery voltage. If its not that then the problem is in the wiring somewhere. I highly doubt that the plastic connector is bad. Get a DVOM and start looking for opens in the DLC circut.

Replacing the plactic DLC will not do a thing. The problem is obviously in the wiring, if you cut the old one out and wire a new on in you are going to have the exact same problem. Just get a meter and a wiring diagram and find out where the open is in the circut. Simply throwing parts at this will not do anything.
