o2 sensor wire

ok as some of you already know I have a bad ass drain issue with my car and obviously it was a short . But before I could do a test with a test light and trace it I noticed my o2 sensor had a wire that was burned in half . Would this cause the drain even with the car off ?

O2 senor wire causing a battery drainage, well first fix that wiring, did you check the altenator yet, wires or battery, i had bad wiring to other parts of my car but like my radio but never caused a drainage, most problems that big were battery, alt related.

well my altenator worked still cause i jumped it on a dead battery and it ran perfectly fine I suppose I could take the alt off and take it to be tested when i have a chance , but I don't have a volt meter . Obviously I have to replace my o2 sensor either way ,but I was curious if that could cause a short and drain battery ?

A shorted O2 sensor wire won't drain the battery with the car off. It will short out when the engine is running.

hmm i suppose that wasn't my issue then although I did drive my car not knowing that the wire was broke until now .

I had a drain I found on a Talon I bought a few years ago. Turned out my ECU was fried. Guessing that the memory charge for it (the charge that is used to store codes and fuel trims) while off was burning a hole in my ECU.

i would double check the alternator even when you buy a new one. i was given a bad alternator from the parts store one time.
