ok so as i get my 97 gst up on the lift everythings goin smooth...
so i put on the o2 sensor socket, and i start to turn it and the things just strips the hell outa it...its almost a circle now...

any suggestions on what the hcck to do about this??? im really lost...my shop teacher wants to cut the wire and put a deep impact socket on it since they are harder but i really dont think hes all there...lights on but nobodys home...just need some input on what i should do...

Thanks a million :dsm:

If you are putting a new sensor in anyway, I think it would be fine to cut the wires. The new sensor will have new wiring up to the harness connector. I got my O2 sensor socket at Napa, it is pretty beefy. If your socket is too light you might want to look for a heavier duty one. Give the old sensor it a shot of screw loose or whatever you have that is equivalent. Let that stuff soak, give it multiple doses even. I put antiseze on when I replace the sensors. Use it sparingly though because it will wreck O2 sensors.

Good Luck,

Seth

If you're putting a new one back on, just cut the wires and use the impact socket to get it off, if that won't work, try vice grips.

Culd a bad o2 sensor in the o2 housing give bad gas milage? im gettin around 13 mpg, & i HAVENT replaced that o2 sensor but i replaced the exhaust one previously. Thanks for replies

ok how do i disconnect the o2 sensor from the block. it looks like the clip is pretty complicated and i have to disconnect some hoses and stuff. what exactly do i have to D/C to get to it and how do i D/C the clip on the block?

oh and for all those people who cant get the sensor off, they make a special socket just for o2 sensors, it has a line down the side it fit the wires in
