I thought my upstream (first) O2 sensor was shot, due to my techno dance gauge not working, and the fact that my logger read 0.00v, and the occasional 0.05v. However, during this time, my gas mileage was fine, at around 20-21 MPG, and I was running it like this for a few weeks.

I bought a new universal O2 sensor, installed it, and nothing. No working gauge, same crappy readings, although I did notice it bounce from 0.00 to .1, .3ish, etc., at one point or another of my slight rev when the motor was warming up. But during ordinary driving, 0.00v.

Any ideas? I disconnected the battery to let the ECU reset itself, both O2 sensors are in (although the rear is dangling, wrapped in tin foil,) both O2 ground straps are connected. I'm not throwing any codes.

Edit : Yes, the logger was set to read the front O2, before anyone asks :p

Any help is appreciated, and I'd like to get mt car running right (read : "tuned".) Thanks a lot.

Try getting an OEM o2 sensor. I wouldn't trust 'universal' components on my car. Also, are all the wires hooked up correctly and are not touching the exhaust manifold?

Regardless of brand, I have a hard time believing a brand new sensor is going to read 0 volts. I think my problem is elsewhere, but I don't know where to look.

Bad wire somewhere maybe?

I was reading the Chiltons' Manual and I 'm having the same problem, except I have a a 4 wire bosch 02 Sensor. I was reading up on it, and it said the things to look at if you are getting low voltage, could possible be fuel pressure, or clogged injectors. I have a 1990, and the previous owner told me that , he was getting 0 volts from the 02 sensor. He told me to replace it. I did, and it still ocurring. Sometimes it will throw a CEL, and sometimes it will turn off. I have a hard time starting the car as well as maintaing idle. Hope that helps any. I'm in the same boat as your are. I have not had the time to check these out, but will let you know once I replace the fuel filter. Also check your coolant temp sensor. It might be corroded causing the 02 sensor to read faulty.

At first mine idle and started up fine. But I always had the same 02 sensor fault code. Like I said, prior to me purchasing the car, the previous owner told me that he connected a datelogger to the car and it read 0 volts going to the 02 sensor. Since then I replaced the 02 sensor, and it has the same problem. Only this time I'm getting a CEL ever now and then, but it would turn off. Hope this helps any. I've been trying to ask this board for help for a couple of months now, and I hardly got any replies to my idle woes.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but im having the same problem. Did anyone find the solution?

thanks
