Ok i'm getting a rnr 2.5 in o2 eliminator downpipe pretty soon and i was wondering how difficult it is to install. Should i leave it up to a shop to install or should i tackle this myself. I just heard the o2 eliminators are difficult to install....

I definetally had some problems with mine. I have the 3 inch one though, and the external dump. Im not going to even get in to what I had to go through with mine. But here is my advice, be patient, and get a 14mm swivel-bit for a 3/8 driver and a very long extension for the very bottom bolt. Come to think of it, I think you have a 2G. Ohh well, I have a 1G.

do you think it would take a long time for a shop to install it? if its too much of a hassle i'd rather just bring it to a shop. I've done all work on my car myself but when it come sto exhaust i just don't deal with it b/c it seems to be a PITA.

it's not that bad man, don't worry, just have your wd40 and anti-sieze handy and you'll be fine. i'll be purchasing prolly the same item from rnr, so shoot me a pm and let me know how you like it.

Dont get me wrong the. I LOVE it now that its on. It took me 2 days to get my old exhaust off, seeing how it was the original exhaust which was on there for 12 years. If you have the proper tools it shouldnt be that bad. I want to get a sound clip of mine. The dump is retarded loud. I love it. Make sure the car is on jack stands when all this is done though...

But if you were to take it to a shop, I dont see them charging you all that much. Id say $100 dollars MAX to do the downpipe and a cat back. Keep in mind if you get the external dump you have to get an aftermarket radiator fan. I have to, for my 3 inch. And also remove the stock driver side fan and the oil filter when you do it. It gives you a ton more room.

Great way to not answer the question, and break a rule at the same time. I salute you.

Translation: Cut that shit out.

I'm only installing downpipe b/c i already have the catback. I'm getting internal dump and not external so it shouldn't be loud at all.

Oh man, he went thuogh some shit with that thing. I would spray the old exhaust with some sort of liquid wrench or open and shut the night before and let it soak in. The hardest part for me was getting off the old O2 housing, after that it was cake. I have the 3" O2 elim and I could get to all the bolts with a normal socket and wrench. I would take the driver side fan out and it will make it alot easier. The other big help would be a buddy. I know feretz_turbo did his alone and it was kind of a pain, I had a friend around and it went fast. I had the old exhaust off and the new stuff on in about three hours, plus a parts run.

Have fun dropping your turbo to get to the back o2 housing bolts.
Heres how mine went....
Me: Gets everything apart cant reach back bolts so I pickup the phone and call JOHN (l2rtsiawd)
L2R: Hey, sup?
Me: i cant get to the back bolt on the o2 housing... any ideas?
L2R: ..... have fun dropping the turbo down to get to it.
Me: *$#@& @&*$&@ @&@$ @$&@$*$& **$&&@ &*@$&@$
L2R: hahahahah anything else?
Me: Nah, bye bro...
Check my install on the tech section if you would like. I went pretty in debt with my install. Should help you out.

A 2G must be different in that area than a 1G. I could get to all the bolt with out haveing to touch the turbo and mine is the 3 inch. I got them all in and finger tight then just hit them with a wrench or socket to get them nice and tight.

RnR originally installed my 2.5" O2 eliminator themselves, but I recently took it apart from the turbo to install a 16G. I didn't really have any problems getting to the O2 bolts. It's not cake, but not a huge PITA either. Just a little bothersome. Oh, and PB Blaster is your friend.

Well dam, I didn't have like 3 swivels and taking the turbo off wasn't that harsh... But I still didn't like doin it.

I hear ya. I had just heard so many horror stories of how hard it was to get those O2 bolts off, that I was fearing the worst, I guess. So I did that part first to make sure I would be able to do it and not have to take it somewhere. With the right box-end wrench, they're all decently accessible.
