Just curious about the numbers stamped on the deck. I can only assume that it has been resurfaced before?

That's from the machine shop. They stamped it so they know what block went with what service order.

You are correct that it has had machine work before.

No, an OE or Felpro composite will be just fine.

At most the pistons may poke out the block .002-.003 the compressed gasket thickness will take that.

Plus enjoy the slight bump in your CR.
