Toronto,
A few weeks ago, i posted a question on "whats the best compression ratio to use when running a t3/t4?"

I got a few replys on people saying to use 9.0:1 compression ratio or something on the higher end so that the turbo can spool up quicker.

So now that i know the NT motor is 9.0:1, just wanted to know can i use the pistons off a NT 4g63?

NT pistons weren't made to handle boost.

If your going t3t4, get at least 95 pistons on 1g rods. Or, you can opt for forged internals. Compression wise for a street car, I would say 9.0 at the max. I would feel safer at 8.5.

I am using 9.0:1 JE Pistons with my TO4E 60-1/.63stg3 set at 30 psi of boost and works excellent... same turbo/same boost was on one of my friend's GVR4 but with 7.8:1 (or less) and it spool-up at 4000 to 4200 RPMs exactly like mine.

So it will be the same for spool-up, but the truth is that less comp ratio will handle MORE BOOST and MORE TIMMING getting more HP. Think about…

Nxt time I'll go less comp ratio.

you forgot to mention thats only on pump gas. on race gas the higher compression motor will run away on the dyno and on the street. i am in agreement with 9to1 is perfect compression.

Nxt time I'll go less comp ratio for a daily street setup. (using pump gas - thanks peregrine) :shhh:

on a daily street setup ill go with a completely stock car. that way i dont have to worry about it breaking down. or maybe ill take the bus like the rest of the sheep
