I have been searching for an answer for this question for awhile now, but I haven't come across a clear answer yet. I'm doing a 6-bolt swap and the block I'm using is a NT. The hole for the knock sensor doesnt have the extrusion and also is not threaded. I came across information that you can use a hole near the top of the head, closer to cylinder three, or one of the upper holes for the A/C compressor bracket.

I would think that the upper hole would pick up a lot of the valvetrain noise, and I think that the A/C compressor bracket hole is kinda far away from the factory location. Which one would be best to use?

your block doesn't have a knock sensor fitting? when I did my 1g nt -> turbo conversion on my old car, my block did!

+1, I am using a block from a 92' Talon esi and it had the knock sensor location threaded and ready to go, same as a turbo block.

Some have it and some don't. It's hit and miss. If it's a miss, there is already a hole there so you will only need to tap it which fixes all your problems.

I know this thread is old, but does anyone have an answer to the original question?? I am having a similar problem to this thread starter. The new block i purchased doesnt have thread on the usual fitting, however it has thread on the fitting up near the head.

Are both locations ok for the knock sensor? Or should i tap thread on the usual location??
