Just got finished putting the engine together and in the car. The car will be capable of making a lot more power with the new setup, so a clutch was a necessity.

I bought a used low mile Southbend SSX kevlar TZB clutch. I had my Flywheel resurfaced, New OEM TOB. I thought I was in the clear.

However, I put it all back together and it wont go into gear with the engine on. After some research I figure I had the typical worn pivot ball/ clutch fork. (even though they appeared to be in decent shape earlier) I ordered and received the new clutch fork and Pivot ball. For insurance I even opted to shim the new Pivot ball. Put her all back together. Also Installed SS braided clutch line.

Alas the same issue. Even after adjusting the master cylinder rod out all the way.

I then assumed I wasn't able to build enough pressure possibly due to a leaking internal seal. With the clutch fully depressed, The slave cylinder rod would move roughly 1". I replaced the Slave and Master cylinder bled the system. It felt better but the clutch was still dragging.

Next, I bought an extended Slave cylinder rod, and was able to adjust the master cylinder rod beyond the recommendation I'm sure. With everything adjusted fully out, new slave/master, new clutch fork/pivot ball. AND an extended slave rod the clutch barely grabs off the floor. However it does not drag whatsoever. there is absolutely no load on the trans when putting into gear.

I'm not sure why the clutch adjustment is so far off. Maybe the flywheel is too thin? I would think a thin flywheel would cause an engagement issue not what I was experiencing.

Sorry for the long post.

I just did my clutch in my gvr4 and I'm having a very slight drag and the peddle is super low almost to low. It's also alittle notchy feeling, it felt way better before the clutch job Not sure what's up and my master rod is fully out, and I bleed the crap out of it. Would bringing the rod back in move the peddle point up or down? I also see alittle seepage from the master on the Inside of the car so I ordered a new master and slave and ss line. Guess I'll see what happens. I installed a bnib act flywheel, bnib south bend b-series disc and a low mile act 2100. My fork was dead center after install with no shims installed! Anyway I wonder if I need a extended rod after reading your post? What your guys think?

Well I think I figured out mine. The 20 year old master and slave are leaking and failing LOL. Won't bleed right and won't hold the peddle anymore. So I ordered new ones and a ss full line from jnz and pick them up today. I'll update once I install and praying it fixes my issues and I don't need to do anything like the o.p.!
