Not lock the doors when the car is on?

is there any way to stop the doors from automatically locking when the car is started? i can't tell you how many times i've started it up, popped the hood to do something and shut the door only to find they're locked with the keys locked inside....it's quite simple to unlock them again, but a pain in the ass nontheless. 5spd, btw.

If I were you I would just start to roll the window down every time when you pop the hood. Then you can just reach in and unlock the door . Or you could pull the fuse that controls the door locks...

ah, I was just wondering if there was a way to disable it when the car is started, i was guessing its some sort of switch that sends a signal to the door lock once the car is running.

I'm not sure exactly how that works. You could wire up a manual switch that is connected to the door locks that you place under the hood and every time you activate it, the doors would unlock. But do you really want to go through all of that work? haha I think the easiest solution is simply rolling down the window

haha yeah, definitely. I just thought maybe it was simple....yesterday I left the car running got out and realized the doors were locked haha....had to unhook the negative terminal and cover up the bov to stall it out, then put the negative terminal back on to unlock the doors, i'lll just leave the window cracked

dont feel like making another thread, will any store make a copy of a vehicle key or do I need to get it from a specialized place? no idea WHY i didn't think of that before.....

Local hardware store is where I would go. We don't have chipped keys so we don't have to special order them.
