Not boosting past 9psi with bc

ok so i have a greddy e-o1 boost controller on my car. it was working fine and boosting at 16 psi like i wanted it to. i changed my bov from a recirced greddy type s to a vented hks (i know its bad to do it but i wanted to try because it worked fine on my mr2 with the maf on) and after we took it for a ride with the same boost controller setting it would not boost past 8.2psi. after checking for leaks we kept trying and no luck so i put the greddy bov back on the exact same way it came off and now its not boosting past 9psi no matter what setting i have it at. i know its not a leak of any kind because its fully opening the wastegate at 9psi. i also have the boost gauge on the e-o1 and a manual boost gauge too and they both say the same thing. anyone have any ideas??

sounds to me like there is a leak somewhere in the bov... Is the adjustment screw on the type-s still in tight and not stripped??? if it is try tightening it at least 1/2 way down and see if it still wont boost, also what kind of wastegate are you using or is just a wastegate actuator?

the thing is the screw is at the same setting it was when i took it off. im using the 16g internal wastegate actuator. but it doesnt make sense that the wastegate is opening up at 9psi. if it only ran that without the wastegate opening then it would be a boost leak. i know the wastegate works because i unpluged it and checked to make sure the boost went past 9psi and it did

My thoughts are you must have disturbed something whilst changing the BOV?
I would go back over every thing and check, then double check. I would check Things like related hoses and pipes and did you put the gasket that goes under the BOV back? I’m only saying as I’ve been known to fall fowl to this kind of thing

everything it good. used carb cleaner to spray around the bov flange and no leaks and it does have the gasket in it

OK do you have a manual boost controller or can you borrow one because if your actuator is opening the waist gate at 9psi then I must be your boost controller, But if it was working before hand
Did you mess with the vacuum hoses that go to the boost controller like put them on the wrong way round? Sorry if I'm sounding dumb but I'm trying to help out so ignore me if I am

everything was put back right. i checked all the lines and there going to the right places. im gonna try a mbc tonight

i would try a vac line from the comp-housing on the turbo to the gate..only...that way you can tell if its the boost contoller.
if it boost the factory level fine .....then try with a MBC and try to fine tune it to about 12 psi.. if it don't rase boost that sounds like the spring in the gate is weak and its blowing open from the exhaust pressure. if it dose work sounds like a bad selnoid on the EBC.

update..i conected the comp housing to the wastegate and it ran 9.7 psi. but if the wastegate was bad wouldnt that mean that when i up plugged it, it should have still ran on 9psi if the wastegate spring is weak? when i ran it like that it did 21psi without the wg opening
