Where do I start..... ok so I got into the dsm game back in 2008 with a black 1993 eclipse gs I bought for 400.00 with my hard earned money when I was 15 years old. The car was on craigslist for so cheap because the timing belt was broke. Not knowing exactly what i was getting into i thought i could fix the car and have it running before i turned 16. well after buying the car and getting it home the work began. I did some research on the forums on what i was going to need to do to get the car back up and running. well i quickly found out the valves had to be trashed. I have never worked on a car at this point in my life but I did not have the funds to buy a nice or even a good running car. even with my parents making over 140K a year they were not willing to help me, the only help i got was a full old tool box in the garage. so I worked my ass off the buy a used engine and swapped it and had a nice running car.

About a 6 months after I swapped the engine I had a rod knock, at this point in my life i was 16 and wanted more power, so I searched craigslist more for a cheap 1g gst or gsx. I found a 1991 tsi down in Portland Oregon for 500 and the owner said it had something wrong with the head. i got the car home and it more then a head problem ANOTHER ROD KNOCK! here it is.

talon3.jpg

At this point im ready to sell them and give up in the dsm game but one night i was searching craigslist again and i found another 1991 Talon awd for 500, the oil filter got dropped off on the highway doing 60 and the motor seized. the car only had 81k miles on it. I figured if i was going to buy a new engine i rather have awd. so i sold the purple tsi fwd for 500 and bought the awd.

IMG_3008.jpg

I saved and bought a 1500 rebuilt engine off ebay and had the awd running for a couple years then i started modding. 16g 272s dsmlink 3in turbo back exhaust fp manifold act2600 shep stage 2 trans. Then over spring break this happend

IMG00112.jpg

I got T boned by a driver that was txting

so through thick in thin I bought another 1991 GSX, i cant tell you why i love these cars but i just do. this is the gsx when i bought it, minus the fmic and the gauge pod.

I bought it in 2011 and the owner said the engine had been rebuilt in the past but the tranny was locked up. I didnt really care what the car came with i just bought it for the shell to drop my engine and trans and have a running car again. so i pulled the engine and put in the shed where it sat till now. the 1500 engine i bought was failing on me in 2012. with all the after market parts and a combo of being a cheaply built engine it started to fall apart. in the summer of 12 it had a rod knock and got parked till now. I didnt have the time to deal with it or the money. now that i bought my house i have time and my own garage to work on getting it back on the road.

I pulled the engine out of the shed and im putting it back together as we speak. I pulled the pan off and nothings rusted, everything looks ok even the pistons look to be in good shape along with the head. so i swapped all my parts to this engine and gave it all new gaskets and cleaned everything. so my mod list is 272s 16g dsmlink act 2600 shep trans stage 2 vrsf fmic 720cc wally 255 fuel lap fpr aem wideband.

Im hoping this engine will run and have good compression, it does have a warranty stamp on the head and block along with a balance shaft removal kit on it so i do know it has been gone through sometime in the past.I bought new water pump, timing belt with all the tenioners and all new gaskets and hoses.the only concern i have about the engine is the last owner used 20-50w oil. I dont know why you would run 20-50w. there was a bottle in the car when i bought it, and pulling the pan i could tell it was 20-50w oil. this should be interesting but hey its a free engine so what the hell.

ill be posting pic of engine and car soon just waiting for my pictures to show up in my email

I just bought a new mits tob to replace my act one, also a new clutch line from the master to the slave from extreme psi, because i have had clutch engagement tissues with this car that i will cover in my next post.

THANKS FOR READING AND MORE POSTS ON THE WAY!

Man, looks like you have had one hell of a time with these cars.. you'll find the one that will treat you right. Good luck on the build brotha, tuned in.

20W-50 is good for it. How does a 20 year old buy his own house?

I work for Boeing Fab here in Washingtion state plus I have a GF so we have a pretty good income between the both of us. Also I bought when the housing market was down so I built a brand new home for less then 200k 1800sqft 4 bedroom at an interest rate of 3.5 % when the house was completed I walked into about 20-30k equity because the market is on the up rise.:rocks:

I also forgot to add that I have been driving a 1992 honda civic to work and back that I bought from a buddy for 500 running and driving, just needed halfshafts. And I also have 06 Mazdaspeed6 but i like to keep the miles off this car, it had 92K currently :thumb:

Boeing is the shiz. I just bought a house in september. 2% inferest from a family member :) I'm 24 3 br 2ba over sized lot in the bellevue equivilant to the toronto area. (Canadian currency helps)

I obviously dont work for boeing but i probably would if i lived back at home. (Everett) as a welder.

Good job blaze. Now go habe jack build you an engine.

Sucks having to go through so many dsms :(

More pics as promised. Got a little busy this weekend installing my new garage door opener.:rocks: Man you never know how nice an opener is until you dont have one!

Heres a picture of the engine after I swapped everything to this mystery engine:pray:. Cams, turbo, the whole nine.

just needs to be timed and she ll be ready to run! :rocks:

Heres the intake manifold I spent countless hours cleaning.

IMG_3557.jpg

Remember the engine I was talking about falling apart on me? well here just a start on whats wrong with it. The valve seals look to be very bad. This is just the start because I haven't opened the oil pan to see what the rod knock has been caused from or the damage it has done.

IMG_3547.jpg

Heres my garage set up I have, its not the best but I works for what I need. :rocks:

More to come on the timing job and getting the engine back installed with my new parts I have on the self.

Unfortunately we probably wont be working together based on price. He wanted a little more then I wanted to spend and Jackson machine auto seems to have some short blocks that are in my price range. I have also seen many awesome reviews for these guys so more then likely ill have a short block from them shortly. Thanks for the reference though :hellyeah:

heres some pictures of my Speed6. I picked up this Cp-e Exhaust off of a totaled speed6 at my local junk yard for $300! :rocks: Turbo Back no cats it retails for around $1200 and it sounds awesome. But I rarely drive it because i put all my miles in my civic.

Maybe you didn't understand. He does the same bare short block jackson would do. For a very similar price. He was including assembily etc. I'm sire he can put together pistons rods and bearings for you and give you the block back. What these shops offer in a short block is just pistons rods machining and bearings. Jack included pulling old motor installing new timing, and assembily of the short block and installation of the head. Like i said it was a more indepth quote.

Good luck none the less, I'm not affiliated with him i live in another cou try LOL i just am very happy with the work performed on my setup and wanted to give you the same opertunity.

Which opener is that? I'm in the market for a new one also

Well when I did the math he wanted around 4500 with the pistons and rods( ross and mahle) i wanted to use, i even that that price was strange when i was looking at Jackson auto and they were half the price. I even emailed him asking if the price I got was a correct, with comparison to jackson auto but after i asked him that he didnt email me back and that was on the 1st of Jan. I also remember him saying he can install for and additional fee but i dont think that was in the spread sheet he sent me.

Its a craftsman 1/2 come with a 10 year warrenty and it was 150 on sale works great!
