Noob's first post here--- about to buy my first DSM

Hey everyone,

I currently own a '03 Jetta w/ most of the stand bolt-ons and a 50-shot. it's quick, but not fast and I'm about ready for a fast car.


I've found a 91 Talon TSI that has the head off, but has a redone head, a few rough edges but a very clean car for under $1000. the guy doesn't know what he's got and I'm about to go get it.


But since I'm so new to this I figured I'd start posting to say hey and see what you guys think aobut your DSM's.

yeah, i'm on a lot of other forums, but none as heavily moderated as this. . It's kind of refreshing because there's nothing more obnoxious than the kids on Vortex asking about BOV's on their 1.8t cars.


There are some quick cars and some knowledgable guys locally, plus it's a great platform for goin fast quick. I could throw twice the money into my jetta and it wouldn't be as fast...



my jetta is fun, but my Talon is gonna be fast.

when our DSM's are running we love them, when they are not we hate them, so about 95% of people on the site hate their DSM right now j/k. Good luck with the DSM and the best advise I can give you is before you post a question search to make sure no one else has asked it.

So it's not a running car? I doubt that anyone who has the head off the car and doesn't know what they have. Be patient and ask a lot of questions, make sure he's not trying to pass on bunch of problems he can't resolved. Welcome aboard.

Yes very well said oldman yeah bro i would suggest have someone that knows about dsm's to take a good luck at it and if you dont just spend alot of time on here go check out the vfaq you will be spending alot of time here http://dsmtuners.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=44 and also check out your tech tutorials too very helpful. We welcome you but beware of those mischief questions youll ask its harsh but keeps you inline you take care

very true cause any question you have more than likely has been answered. but have fun with your new car. and even though some need lots of work i love workin on dsm's more than anything else. and ill tell you this your jetta wont touch your talon in speed. i had mine up to 140 the first day and it wasnt running right.
