Alright, So I just recently pulled the engine to do a few jobs. Stage 1 clutch, timing belt, new tranny, and other jobs. After dropping the engine back in, I got to start engine, and no start. So checked everything. I'm pretty sure it's all good. obviously not. Checked voltage to crank sensor. 9 volts on one prong, and other prongs arn't receiving correct voltage. Bought computer from junk yard out of another standard transmision eclipse. Still no start.

Help please. I just got license back from being suspended 2 months ago. havn't drove the dsm in months..:banghead:

Make sure the crank/cam sensors plugged in, along with the coils, and the transistor. Make sure all your grounds are in place, I think this is a good possibility that its your issue.
 
If you have any idea, where are all the grounds? Theres one up by my intake manifold, I don't know where that goes. right now its attached to manifold. But other grounds, I don't know about. Any ideas?

Theres about 6 in the engine bay. 2 belong to wire harnesses, that go to the frame. one goes to the tranny, one goes to the intake,one goes near the brake booster, and the last one looks like it might be off the tranny also . this is all per a very unclear service manual picture.

Check the connections to the starter. Also take each ground off and sand down the metal to get off any rust or anything coming in-between the two, because that could cause issues also.

To clarify, when you turn the key nothing happens as in the starter does not engage?

does your check engine light stay lit? Possibly check for any codes.
 
Is the starter trigger wire even getting voltage when you turn it to crank?.

Also the one prong should have 12v coming from the battery, the battery has 12v right? And when the trigger wire gets 12v it completes the circuit and the stud closer to the starter gets power, ands starters rejoice and spin.

Ok I'm helping DaisyDSM with his car first off it cranks over the starter circuit is good. It does not have spark. The crank sensor and cam sensor have each have 3 pins. 1 is ground, 1 is 5 volts, and 1 is 9 volts all supplied by the computer. The 5 volts is there and the ground is there the 9 volts is not. We got a computor from the bone yard it was a 95 model plugged in but had same problem. I noticed the 2 plugs for the computer did not totally match the guides for the mating plugs on the harness side so I'm not sure that computer will work. The coil pack is good the asd relay is good. I don't know if the computor needs to see something else before the 9 volts is applied to the crank and cam sensors. The wires ohm out ok from the computer to the sensor connectors.

There should be a ground, a 5volts, and the other wire should provide a signal back. Be it a digital pulse, or a a/c sine wave, it has to provide the ecu something, you know?
 
idk if this helps but on my car I had a problem with a starter relay / multi-functioning relay that I spent 2 weeks trying to fix. See if you can push start the car if its manuel if you can there could be a chance its from the starter or relay

Yeah what you say makes sense I just followed the chilton book for testing crank sensor it states to pull plug turn ignition to on one pin should have 4.9 to 5.1volts and it does 2nd pin should be ground and it is 3rd pin should be 8.9 to 9.1volts and it is not. Says to check wireharness and if no problem ecu is bad. I then downloaded a schematic and in the ignition pages it shows 8 volts going to the crank and camshaft sensors from the ecu it shows 5 volts connected to ecu and then ground. Far as i can tell the 9 volts is the source power the 5 volts is output maybe when the sensor passes thru the magnet on crank it pulses the output pulling it down to 0 which would create a digital pulse of +5 and 0, high and low the schematic is not real clear to me i also looked at a clymer book it says the 9 volts is the source
 
Just an update incase someone has simalar problem I hate started threads that are not posted with results. I didn't know it was possible but the speedometer wiring harness got swapped with the coil primary harness so the 9 volts for the speedometer, cam sensor, and crank sensor was shorted to ground through coil and it took out 2 ecu's before I found it. Lesson is do work yourself or really watch over others trying to help( teen agers). Took over 2 months and alot of cash to find.
