first i want to say that the headlights used to work. The headlights and signal lights are not working, but the parking lights are working. i noticed that there is no power to the headlight fuse. i did take apart the dash, and i took the flip up motors out and put them back in. I took all the firewall electricall parts off and put them back on after painting the firewall. any ideas?

also, i put my gauge cluster plug in backwards, but i changed it around and the gauges work. im not sure if i could have messed something up in the gauge cluster but it seem to be all working. even the dash lights work as well.

Check the headlight relay, If I remember correctly the fuse is on the hot side of the relay, not the trigger side. So if the relay is not clicking over, the fuse will have no power to it.

Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's wired.

Also, I would check to make sure your headlight switch in the dash is good. You could do this by manually triggering the headlight relay with 12v, if the lights come on then you know there is a problem on the trigger side of the relay (such as the headlight switch, wiring to/from it, etc)

did you check all ground wires?

ahhh yes very good point! The headlights have their own grounds, one for each side!!

There is a small screw that goes into the fender on each side of the car, this is where the headlights are grounded. They will not work (fog lights wont work either) unless these are grounded!!

They are grounded. I took the relay out under the hood and put a wire in there and the headlights light up. I changed the relay with other relays that i have but it didnt fix it. do i have to have the motor running for this car for them to work with the relay in?

The key has to be in the on position, but the car doesn't need to be running.

It works when you trigger the relay with 12v, then there is a problem on the trigger side. Probably the light switch or wiring going to/from it :hmm:
