Ok, I am in desperate need of help here. I will give the basics first, my car is not delivering fuel at all. A week ago it was running fine, but would take about 5 tries and 4 minutes to get it started. Now it is completely dead.

This is what I have done so far:

I checked to see if I was getting any fuel at the rail, there is none.

I checked to see if the MPI relay was still good, it's not and I am waiting on another one.

I tried bypassing the fuel pump with the check terminal near the batter, pump did not turn on.

I checked to see if the ecu was giving out any codes, and it doesn't read at all. Tried using a different ecu, still no read. Maybe both were bad, but I am waiting on the relay before I do that.

Also, when I put the ignition in the on position, the CEL light doesn't come on at all, but all the other lights do.

The car is a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI awd. Any other troubleshooting you guys can think of?

Thanks
Luigi

I would start simple check your fuel filter and your fuel pump. I would say your problem is with one of thoes two.

Hope it helps
Jesse

If your CEL does not come on with KOEO, your ECU is not booting up. You can change fuel filters all day long, but with a bad ECU your car is not going to start. :|

The fuel pump check connector is directly connected to the MPI relay, so if that's not working, neither will the check connector.

Replace the MPI relay, pull the ECU (inspect it for damage) and we can start diagnosing from there if these don't fix the problem. My guess is that replacing these will eliminate your problem (or at the very least, make it much easier to diagnose).

Good luck - you're on the right track :)

Update: I opened up the mpi relay, and connected the terminals like it is supposed to, only I used my hand. The CEL light came on so I turned it ova and it started. I also opened up the ecu, and found a small leak on one of the caps which really sucks. Oh well, still waiting on the mpi relay, and I guess looking for another ecu.

Glad you found your problem. I wouldn't start looking for a new ECU yet, though. Contact member "Steve" here on DSMTuners. He fixes ECUs, and is great w/ them. He can have you back up and running in no time :thumb:
