Hiya guys, just got my first dsm, got he rnot running.

I checked the compression, with 0 across the board on each cylinder. Ive tried two different gauges with no avail. I took off my valve cover, and Im suspecting valves are bent, is there anyway without taking the head off tocheck if the valves are operating properly?

did you take out your radiator when you disassembled the motor?

I have a service manual and followed it for the most part. Pulled the head with intake and exhasut attached all at once. Took me about 1 hour to remove timing belt and about 2 hours to pull the head. Take my time and check stuff out as I go.

Is it a haynes or is it a factory manual? how much are they going for? And do you guys recommend the ralliart gasket?

sorry to hear about your misfortune...I kind of have the same story: previous owner said the HG was blown, so I did a compression test and got 0 compression. Took the engine apart only to find a blown piston in the #2 cylinder and all the bearings shot to hell. As for a manual, search on EBAY...I downloaded the factory service manual off EBAY for I think 5 or 8 dollars total.

Let me stress this to the newcomers who just bought their car.....REPLACE ALL THE BELTS...LOOK!..... This is my balance shaft belt which EXPLODED....theres nothing left of the rest of the belt, its all in tiny little pieces that just fell out when I took the timing belt cover off. I didnt get to pull the head off today because I didnt have a hex that big to take the head bolts off. I will probably get to do the rest of it next weekend.

I have the factory manual, it came with the car so I'm not sure what they go for. At first I thought I would skip the balance belt, but I canned that thought right away and just ordered everything.

Alright...Ive got to go to a Chrysler dealer anyways, I have nothing with my car, not even that little manual with the wallet came with the car when I bought it, and I need that to keep my title in also. Jesus! THis thing is already a money pit and I havent even started it yet. Keep me updated on your process moby.
