i just installed a new t3t4 turbo with fmic and have no boost leaks. and i installed the external wastegate and i am sure tht it is hooked up right. when i took it out for the second test drive my boost guage is reading like 5 lbs. it feels like it isnt boosting all the way. but the car revs up like its supposed to but l;ike said no speed???

There is something wrong with your new setup. I would say that waste gate is opening too soon. Can you stiffen it up? If you build 5psi of steady boost you know your turbo is working and your intercooler pipes are holding, but you won't have any power. Remember these engines are low compression built for forced induction. If you can't supply the force it won't supply the power.

yes i thought the same thing. and i just turned the boost contrller all the wy up and still the same.

Even though you turn the boost controller all the way up your waste gate could have a spring that is too weak to hold anymore boost. Disconnect your boost controller and run the line strait from the boost source to you waste gate. You should be able to build at least 11psi depending on your setup. We need more info about your setup. Are you running an external or internal dump? What kind of manifold and O2 housing? What brand and model of waste gate?

well external wastegate, my setup came in a kit off of ebay. as for my exaust i made my own and welded a bun to my exaust pipe for my o2 sensor. the spring in my wastgate is pretty stout it took me and a friend to put it tgether when one of the banjo bolts twisted into.

The only explanation is that your turbo is not getting enough exhaust through the turbine to create boost on the compressor side. What size is the exhaust?

2.5" it comes straigt out then down i will try hooking the waste gate straight up ad see what happens

After that, try to disconect the wast gate all together. You should get major boost spike. Let us know your results. Post picture of your setup too.

It really sounds like the spring isn't strong enough to hold itself closed with the pressure of the turbo.

I had the same problem with my internally gated 60-1.
No matter how I adjusted it, no matter how high the boost was set, it would STILL only give me about 8 psi of boost.

a new actuator fixed that for me. A stronger spring took care of it. :)

good luck.

im thinking that it might be my exaust....i took a piece of 2.5" pipe and cut a 45 degree piece and welded that together si it would clear my oil filter.. it sticks out about 3" then turns straight down. do you think that could be my culpret??? i even took and stuck the pressure side hose off my turbo to the top of the wastegate to ensure that it would stay shut.. if when i fix my exaust and that dont fix it it will probally see a match LOL:beatentodeath:
