Check out what happened with a brand new NGK.... The entire ceramic piece just said Bye Bye.
I called NGK in California. What a joke. The rep said it was impossible for a bad plug to get out of the factory. Typical copout. Buy Japanese and still have to deal with American 'pass the buck'.
No sign of detonation on the plug or any other plug. No high EGTs. No over-lean condition. It just went boom!

Typical Corporate mindset. Did it damage the cylinder badly? Or did you get lucky?

I was using the NGK 7s.
I don't think it did terminal damage. Mostly some fine scarring on the cylinder wall. I cleaned the edge of the piston that was scrubbing.
My old plugs were fine, but I put new ones in for a big race. Just my luck to get a set with a bad one....
