newbie smog question

my friend wants to upgrade to evo pistons, port his head and get +1mm valves, will he still be able to smog with no problems?

Passing smog will depend on the condition of the car. O2 sensors, cat., plugs, tune, will all play more of a factor than just more compression and a ported head. He should be ok if he is around stock but if not he will probably have some problems. What other mods are done to the car?

As long as you have all of the necessary smog control equipment, you will pass. They dont have an AWD roller here and they had me idle, I passed. The pistons wont have a substantial effect on emmissions.

everythings basically stock for now besides the fact that he converted to a 6bolt.
