First of... HI... im new to the DSM but not to the FI world...

I am still having a hard time understanding this recirculating system with my 2g BoV. Im looking to go FMIC but have some concerns.

1) When i do so im not 100% what im supposed to do about bov, am i supposed to use the stock one still... or maybe another bov but just run a hose and connect them?

2) when i searched the topic i did notice that people spoke highly of the 1g bov, okay but can i use mine?

3) i have done this before to my mazda, dont really see how chaging an intercooler can cause ignition problems but according to some of the issues i read up on, there have been some completly irrelevant issues that people run into? should i expect the same?

i dont have too many things done, infact all i have done is the k/n intake mod.
infact i dont even know how much i can SAFELY... boost with out blowing stuff... this is my daily driver, not looking to change that. i bought the car from an old man so it is a virgin.

like i said i did read up on it and i would surely appreciate your help.

once again thanx in advance for welcoming me to the site

if you are saying that your car is a virgin then you have the T25 turbo and with this turbo you really do not Need a FMIC what you have on is already more than enough

do not spend money on things that you do not need

the plastic BOV that you have is good for 14-15 PSi , get your self a MBC and raise the boost to 14 psi and be done with it, do not do that without having a boost gauge

unless you have a future plans then you can install the FMIC and order for a bad ass 16G

good luck :hellyeah:

1) Yes, for now (like you said, you will be keeping stock boost) you can use the stock blow off valve. Have it in the same spot as it is stock and recirculate it as stock.
2) The 1g bov holds more boost than the 2g bov and is an all around great bov. Also, people "crush" them in a vise to get them to hold more boost and this is cheaper than buying a nice aftermarket one and works just as well sometimes. For you, since you are stock boost, the stock bov is fine.
3) No, your intercooler, if properly installed, should not majorly affect your car.

Now, the reason people frown on not recirculating bov's is that it is purely an awesome sound making mod and actually hurts the performance of your engine. The ecu is counting on that air coming back into the air intake and if you steal it from the ecu it will not know and your engine may be barely to severely affected. Hope that clears things up! Happy FMIC'ing! :rocks:

EDIT: I started writing this before RayBan posted, sorry for any overlaps.

ill be more descriptive. The 1g BOV is a beast. It cant be used for applications upto 32Psi or higher when crushed. The stock 2g plastic POS starts leaking around 12psi. Never unhook the recirc hose on the stock setup it wont run. If your wanting to increase boost get a 1g BOV and a 16g this is the cheapest most effective upgrade. and hes right you dont need a FMIC until you do more ungrades. The side mounts are effective. Also a manual boost controller is a good way to adjust boost but remember not to run over 16psi as the stock ECU will only adjust fuel trim upto this amount. PM me if you need any help. I have a 95 awd TSI w the t25 i put on the crushed 1gBOV and it made a noticable difference in performane :)

I don't know about that...I had mine and several others leak around 9-11 psi.
OP I been around long enough to know that all these questions you asked except #3 are on this forum. Search harder.

1. BOV choices are easy. Either get a 1g or everything else are mild or suck hard. I have no idea what the hell you're talking about connecting lines and shit.

2. You can stick with yours. You can't use a 1g bov unless you have a 1g flange. But only if you're using stock ICPs.

3. I don't either.
