Hello everyone..........just thought I would drop in and say hello to the forum. As of right now I have an 86 Pontiac Fiero that i installed a 3.4 DOHC into, but im getting tierd of the smaller car so.... Saturday I will be picking up my new car. It is a 1990 Talon TSi awd 5 speed. I know the basics of the automobile, i have had my fair share of cars but never the privilege of a dsm like this. I have owned a couple of conquests/starions so I'm not completely blank in the turbo dsm world (if thats even considered a dsm to you fellas). This is going to be my 4th turbo car, i had my idiot boost stage and now I'm down to reading fuel maps, air/fuel requirements, and compressor maps. Anyway the point of this post is to show and as you guys the opinion on the car i Am purchasing. It has 129k on it and there new parts

New ECU
New Big 16G turbo
New apexi n1 3" Down pipe.
Home made 2.5" exhaust (no leaks)
New 02 sensor
Ported 2G o2 housing
New front lower balljoints
New SPEC stage 3 clutch (good to 450 lb/ft Torque)
Turbo XS dual stage boost controller
Changed fluids in engine, trans, t-case and rear end.
Greddy Kevlar timing belt
New head
Mitsubishi EVO multi layer steel headgasket
ARP Head studs
550cc Injectors
Apexi SAFC 2 (black)
Autometer boost gauge
Magincore plug wires
New sparkplugs
New fuel filter
New oil pan
New balance shaft belt
New water pump
New alternator belt
Used non leaking radiator
Tires are newer Yokohama's with 7/32 tread depth.

Does this sound like a fairly good setup to you experienced people? I'm not all to familiar with talons like I said......I'm still reading my FAQ's and searching.. Let me know whats you guys think of the setup

I wouldn't pay more than 3,500 for that, but I'm picky.
Everything sounds like it was done correctly. Mods look sound. Congrats on the car, sounds like a winner.

I have always had a love for 1G dsm's...I stumbled across this one by accident. Favorite color combination and everything. I would like some suggestions on appearance and other mods i should/could do........

thanks guys :talon:

I wouldn't spend a whole lot on exterior mods, but, one thing that I did and I think looks really good is putting the 2g Eclipse 5 spoke rims on the car. I like them because first of all, they're not going to be as expensive as your traditional aftermarket rims, they're the same exact dimensions as the 1g rims as you see on the car and they look really good on a 1g. Just my 2 cents.

jim90TSi - I would not get a talon if your sick of small cars. But besides that it looks like a solid car. It might be just the picture but is appears that the rear quarter panel lip is starting to rust. If this is true then you are going to want to get the fixed asap, it will rot away fast. I don't know about how much you are interested in the 1/4 mile but you should be able to run AT LEAST high 12's with that car (low 12's with that setup should not be much of a problem). All around great setup, but don't be surprised if you start wanting to make more power. Good luck with it --Dave

I'm not sick of small cars, just cars as small as a fiero... I want more than 2 seats and a trunk. The rear is quarter is not rusted at all, just the picture. Thats another thing i like about the car, no rust at all. I'm pretty much all about 1/4 mile my man.....I just want some better looking rims, maybe a drop, rest of the money will go to the motor. I figured the car would be quick, didn't think it would be that fast.....i expected high 13's.

That's great it has no rust, going to save alot of headaches later on. As far as the quarter mile, learn to drive the car, and make sure you tune the hell out of it and you will have easy 12's. There is way too many people running shitty times with great parts. Oh and as far as wheels, I would look at some rota slipstreams if your concerned with weight. On ebay you can get a brand called "Nippon Racing", which looks to use the same cast as the Rota Slipstreams, the Nippon wheels are called "Nippon F-2", which are around $385 shipped. Good luck --Dave A.

:thumb: hello fellow Fiero owner! Nice grab.

You own a fiero to? Sweet, what exactly do you have?

As for wheels, im looking at 17's probably, nothing to flashy really. I do like slipstreams alot however.

OK so i have a few questions.......first how reliable are the tranny's and transfer cases in these cars? The guy I'm buying it from is an ASE cert. mechanic so he is a maintenance guy, he flushed all the fluids in the vehicles. Anyway, just curious how reliable they are in transmission and overall. I cannot afford any more lemons ha ha.

Thanks guys

It all depends on how much you pound on it. If you dont shift at 10,000 rpm and lauch from every stop light then you will be ok, but these cars are just like any other. They require constant upkeep.
