ok heres the thing i recently traded my civic for a talon hehe im finally getting to no torque hehe.....well its a 95 tsi awd model.....my question is wats the 1st thing i need to do with it??? give it a tune up??### kind of oil do i use ### parts do i need to replace,i dont have the service manual so yea i dunno and since its turbo im lost its got 95,888 miles......o and one more thing the tranny was just rebuilt its automatic and it feels funny when i tried to stop at first to go i my drive way it almost stalled i dunno why it dont do it no more though but yea help me please

Welomce to the DSM world. Get ready to have fun in one of the best turbo cars out there but also get ready to spend every dime you make on your new found hobby. Lol I have and not regreted it in the past four years with my baby. Few things. ALWAYS at least try to search before asking ANY question. If you want to do mods the right way take a look on the site. There is a pretty good guide line for doing it and don't put a bigger turbo on before the proper supporting mods. Don't go crankin boost before you know what you are doing. Thats a very big common mistake. As far as oil most people use some sort of synthetic. There are better brands than others but a lot of it has to do with prefrance. I've never delt with a automatic but you might find it in the drivetrain section. Glad you ditched the Honda and got a real import. :thumb: Once again welcome.

The first thing you want to do with it is find out what mods have already been done to it. With 95k unless you bought it from some Grandma, it's probably not stock. Give the car a very good once-over you should be able to tell what isn't stock. Then post your findings we can't really try to help you-with out knowing what you have!! You don't really know if who you bought it from knew what they were doing or thought they did.

On your other questions maintenance, maintenance, maintenance-give the car a good tune up
You can build a 500hp car, but if its not running it's a 3200lbs paperweight=Useless

Use this web site its GREAT. :thumb:

Ok So ### Brand Of Stuff Do U Guys Use...as Far As I Can Tell It Just Gots 17 Inch Rims, A Kand N Air Filter, and I Think The Guy Said It Had A Bigger Turbo Like A T3 Or Sumthing But To Me Its Not A Big Difference From Other Tsi's Ive Been In

Well welcome to the DSM scene. Seems like you have some work out for you though.

- 95K Miles
- Rebuilt Transmission
- Supposed bigger Turbo

Could be some problems in the making, wish you would have come on here before you bought it, we could provide some tell-tale signs as to why to avoid that purchase and keep looking.

Start off with the following:

1. Tune-Up, new plugs (I recommend NGK BPR7ES plugs and maybe some Accel, MSD or a slightly less priced Bosch wireset). Make sure you use dielectric grease properly to insulate and avoid any plugs from locking up in there. Check each plug for any signs of burning oil or oil in the cylinders, if you notice some, I of course recommend tearing down the block and replacing the pistons, rods and rings while in there. If this is too rich try some Ring Seal or Lucas.

2. Oil Change, I would recommend Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30, I would go with 5W-30 and use some Lucas Synthetic oil additive. Use a decent filter, they are not all the same, a Bosch filter is decent for the price, a K&N is pricey but effective. Of course if you are up for ordering other better brands rather then what you can find at AutoZone that is good as well. Remember to do the PCV while you are at it. Use a new draing pan plug as well.

3. If it has a K&N, make sure you recharge it, if it is the stock setup replace it with a good filter if you can't afford the K&N. Change the fuel filter, make sure to fill the car up with premium fuel and run through Lucas fuel injector cleaner. Check power steering, brake and transmission fluid, replenish as needed.

4. Using Prestone, flush out your cooling system and refill, replace the thermostat and any rotted looking hoses or connectors. Make sure all clamps are tight and not worn out.

Once you have done that and done a once over on the car and have given it the general proper love it needs. Drive her around with her new found TLC. Any inherent problems will now become much more aware.

do a basic tune up like plugs, wires, change the oil, and if you dont have any idea when the timing belt was done go ahead and do that
