Hi everyone. I just picked up a 91 turbo laser tonight for 1k. Was hoping to drive it through the winter without any major repairs... on the way home my buddy realized that the clutch is slipping (wasnt doing it during the test drive so i dunno why now). Anyways apparantly the car has 550 injectors and an upgraded ecu, buddy was able to get 12 psi outta the car on the drive home. Trying to figure out what clutch i can replace this with for cheap. I bought this car b/c my other turbo car needs a clutch and I didnt wanna drive it during the winter. i can do al the work myself, just dont know what pwr level this thing is at now and how much of an upgraded clutch I need.

you'll have to find out more about the car. I can't see someone throwing in larger injectors and nothing else. If that is what happened, the car must not run right, you also won't be making any more power.

A stock clutch will do just fine if you don't have any desire in more power anytime soon.
 
Yeah Ill get some pictures up tomorrow and see if people on here and I can figure it out. Also this is all what he said so they could be stock and just trying to bs me. Yeah I dont have any power desires now besides stock (my other car has built engine and turbo'd) I just wanted a turbo winter car. Only thing I noticed out in the cold was that it still had stock everythign it looked like, even intake was oem. Only thing diff that we noticed was that it had a bov and the recirc pipe was blocked off. Oh and 2 in exhaust... dunno what stock is or anything, completely new to dsms. What is the normal boost levels for these? I figured 7-8psi.
 
To be honest ive not been impressed with exedy clutches. I have a 4 puck on my other car and it lasted 10k. All be it it was a free clutch that I was testing for someone, it should have lasted better. Although I will look into. Thank you for your suggestion.

Anyone know what stock boost should be at?

Also what are the opinions on the ACT clutches? I wouldnt mind doing a stg 1 clutch just to be safe. The exedy is a bit more than I want to spend but not too badly priced, Would like to stay in the 1-150 range.
