i plan on buying the gm maft. i have a few questions.

are the adjustment knobs inside of the translator box?

if so, does the box come with enough wire to be installed inside of the car? or will i have to get out and get under the hood each time to make adjustments?

what is a good spot to install the maft box under the hood? i wouldn't want heat or water to damage it

Generally they go in the engine bay, you can wire it in cabin though, I believe there is a VFAQ on how to wire it right to the ecu. A good place to put it is against the passenger side fender, or near the battery, on my car its sorta mounted/wedged against the passenger side of the engine bay. Wrap your connections with electrical tape, and if you concerned you can wrap the translator with tape too, but it makes it annoying when you wanna play with the knobs which are located inside the unit!
