im helping my buddie get his first car running correctly so it can pass smog
first off it has an evo 3 gt turbo and greddy RS bov on it and when i first looked it over the vacuum lines were a mess of trying too hard to make boost

the waste gate was not connected at all
the fuel pressure regulator solenoid was disconnected and hoses left to suck on unmeatered air

and it had a small air filter stuffed in the bov return hole also sucking on unmeatered air
so when i drove it from his house to mine it dident go past 40mph

i fixed most of the vacuum lines but i cant find a close source for the wastegate and solenoid
the stock on turbo connection is now gone with the stock turbo

i plugged the bov return hole with a 3 liter soda bottle cap and a hose clamp
and im having my buddie buy the recirc kit for the bov

i changed out the sparkplugs with ngk plat. with a 6 heat range
and changed the oil with mobile one 5w-30

and im doing the fuel pump rewire later today

i just need some help getting this car run like it should
and that means i need this waste gate hooked up i will take pics later today when the sun is out

For the moment you can T into the bov line. This will give you less consistent boost control than a closer source and does degrade the signal to the bov but it works and it even used to be the preferred method at one point. Later you can drill a hole into an intercooler pipe and add a nipple for a better boost reference for the wastegate.

I hate to tell you but you should switch those platinum plugs for copper ones.

so do i hook up the boost solenoid with it?
the guys at RRE said to drill and tap the turbo for a barb fitting but i dont know where i should do this
i think ill wait on doing that till after the car passes smog

i got it to stop stalling when the bov pops by uping the idle to ~900rpm it seems to help
i have to do the same thing on my nissan

also second gear is rediculusly hard to get in and out of what could that be?

ok car was smoking so i did a bunch of tests and it turns out the turbo seals are gone

so i took the turbo out and this is what i found
the heat shield is pretty much gone
