I don't have any pics of the conversion step by step. But I do have the 19inch wheels on there :thumb: now. I'll post pics shortly.

The only difference is the spyder didnt come in an awd trim, thats why its sweet to convert, its pointless to covert a gst though , just buy an awd.

Some of y'all must have it great. DSM's are far overpriced in MD, and I'm not going to drive 300 miles just to testdrive a car, and I'm not going to buy a car that I've never driven unless it's a parts car.

I still owe 5 grand on my car. I'm not going to sell my car, and THEN drop another 10 grand to get a GSX. Especially if I could find a wrecked GSX and take a weekend or 2 and do the swap in my garage.

Okay, I've read a lot of the tech on this in a couple different threads and haven't found a definate answer to my question, so here it is:

I have found a '95 GSX that was rear ended... messed up the back end sheetmetal pretty bad... what I'm curious about is if I bought this car, would I be able to do the swap in any 2g spyder? I know that the nonturbo has the motor turned the other way, but this GSX has a complete running engine and trans, as well as the entire drivetrain and big brake upgrades, which I would be planning on swapping over...

I guess my question is: did the turbo and the non turbo have the same platform, as in, as long as I have all the parts, I can put the turbo motor, trans, and drivetrain in the non turbo car? I don't understand why it wouldn't, but I wanted to verify this before I started looking for a nice Spyder GS minus engine and trans, cheap ;)

turbo and non turbo engines are flipped ... it wouldn't work. Why would you want an AWD n/t???? I didn't think those ever had "traction problems"?

The non-turbo Spyders didn't have to put up with the 420A, they got a 4G64 that's mounted the same as the turbo spyders. You could swap everything over from the GSX including the engine if you want... as long as you post pics!!! :D

or leave half the 4g64 and make the 2.4 motor....why swap out a perfectly good half a 2.4? think....2.4 awd.....: humps desk :``

Don't think you quite understood, I wanted to verify that the turbo motor, trans and drivetrain would fit in the NT chassis... eventually I would be building custom motor, still want to find a nice DOHC MIVEC motor, turbo the hell out of it and make it fit...

*sighs*

...but right now I just came across this wrecked gsx that runs and drives, and now I need to find a spyder to put the stuff in... and being less financially stable than I would like to be, I was hoping to find a cheaper spyder, perhaps even a non turbo platform to stuff the turbo motor and AWD trans in it.

That's the answer I was looking for! This is still a big if project, but I guarantee I'll do a step by step photoshoot of the build if I get the money together to get the GSX and a Spyder.

ahhh very nice...
my buddy has this done to his car....hes on here his username is Pulsr....

Alright, so I have my GSX, and I'm doing some work to it right now... I think I've found a spyder shell to start putting stuff in, so hopefully I'll be able to get this started soon... if you want to follow the build, I'm going to set aside a corner of my website for the buildup. Hope to have a step by step with photos all along the way so that anybody with mechanical aptitude can duplicate the build. So keep an eye on my website (and while you're there give me some ideas, I really need to redesign it... there's a forum you can post on to let me know what to change, and what to keep) and hopefully by mid summer I'll have this together.

I recently picked up most of the parts to do the swap. I still need front axles, trans/transfer case though.

If you have any questions with removal of any of the back half, let me know. It took a friend and I the same amount of time to get the 4 bolts and 2 drive shaft brackets out, as it did to get the subframe, fuel tank, and drive shaft out.

Sure thing - I'll pm you once I get the spyder (might take a while, I'm poor and I doubt the please donate to my cause link on my webpage is going to buy me a car - if it does, that would rock, but eh...) til then I will be working on making the GSX road worthy (mostly bodywork) so I won't be unbolting anything.

English please.

That was english.

Hot - Informal. Arousing intense interest, excitement, or controversy: a hot new book; a hot topic.

Wow - Used to express wonder, amazement, or great pleasure.

The "." was slang for a pause, so while the structure might not have been correct, it was English.

Barely, but for the sake of argument; sure.
