Spyder's don't weight that much more than the other models, I don't see why everyone makes such a big deal of it being heavier

Anyways, props to a clean ass Spyder, I love that you made it awd.

It's not *that* much heavier, but when you add the drivetrain with the already heavier spyder, it's like 500 pounds more than the a gs-t coupe... granted you're going to take stuff out for weight reduction, and put stuff in for power, but either way, expect your car to weigh in at close to 3400 pounds... which is damn heavy for the size of the car, imho, but if I could find the required components (a 99 spyder and a 2G GSX) I'd be all over doing this mod myself (well, I'd have my friend weld, cause I haven't done that in years)

back on topic, beautiful car, if you want to give it to someone, I'd be more than willing to watch over it for you.

F@cking Badass! i want that convertion/set up too... damnit.

thats my dream, right there.. :)

ahh i havent seen you in awhile, probably since i havent been around. car looks badass, great to hear about the new traction.

Awsome looking car. I'm torn between doing the conversion or just buying a second (AWD) DSM and focusing mainly on power rather than a well rounded car like I am with the Spyder.

I think you can only do an AWD conversion to a spyder, because they use the full GSX chassis and floorboard, the GST coupe doesn't. Correct me if I'm wrong.

hey guys any idea if this works with a n/t or is it just a 4g63 thang

i heard spider chasis are stronger

yah, the chassis itself is stronger because there is no structural support in roof anymore...hence the extra beef below. but overall...the car has no more, if not less, integrity than a hardtop does

Wassup Mario... I heard about the resurrection. Looks good! :thumb:

Lets see some pics with the spyder on the lift. Now those are the pics I wanna see, the under carriage :D

The timing belt let go on my 1g... I'm going to Vegas to pick up another 1g for 2k, again :) If you thought the red 1g was cherry for 2k, wait till you see the one I'm gonna pick up!

IF it was an NT spyder it would work, just put a turbo head on the motor in there and get a 2.4litre 4g63+awd  man i want one.

Nice car, i envy you, and $900 holy shite! FWD guys who are hating this is the pinnacle of the eclipse; awd+drop top just accept it.

That is just downright incredible OMG

Can I ask someone...what is the difference between converting a GST Spyder to AWD,and converting a regular GST to AWD?Just curious because I would really consider doing this over the winter because she's gonna be stored away anyways and be recieving a 6 bolt swap. Also I think I might be able to get my hands on a donor GSX at the local salvage yard, where I got my airbags from.

BTW - an AWD Spyder.....that is beautful beyond words.Great work! :thumb:

The only difference is the spyder didnt come in an awd trim, thats why its sweet to convert, its pointless to covert a gst though , just buy an awd.

I put far too much money into this car to just get a AWD.I want a 2nd gen, I dont have $6,000+ to ''Just buy an AWD''

Hey its all personal preferance, i would rather not deal with all the hassle of converting a gst to a gsx, unless i had the time, money, patience ect. I guess thats why i bought an awd in the first place...

I have a mechanically inclined friend so I should be all set there.Hes very good.Works on DSMs,and has one.I know its going to be a PITA though, but I figure its alot easier than letting this car go.Ive already got a 6 bolt sitting for it thats waiting to be rebuilt and put in,Brand new 2 month old paint job,and shitloads of parts being installed right now.I could never get rid of this thing.Im emotionally attached

some people happen to not mind the work - and want to stick with what they got.
people that just toss out there " sell it and buy a AWD " are basicly saying " i got no clue how to convert to AWD " :D
