hey guys recently started to have some problems with my speakers in the door panels (one was already out and the other started to rattle and sound worse than it already did =P) i already have a pioneer 4900ib headunit so i got some Infinity Kappas installed them and they sound great but i noticed that i lost both rear speakers....you can only hear them if you put your ear on top of them. I was told it was because the Kappas are 2 ohms and the rest of my speakers are 4 ohms and so the kappas are sucking up all the power. So i went out and got Infinity Reference 3 way 6x9s hooked them up and i get bass out of them but nothing else. I was confused because i was under the impression that a 3 way would give me low mid and highs... but didnt know if it was because of the way the car audio system is made or if i was doing/hooking up something wrong? to install them all i did was remove the old speakers, cut the plug off and wire them to the new speakers....i dont know anything about car audio so any help would be great =P Thanx alot

You might want to check the cross-overs on your cd player. Most pioneer decks have a cross-over that eleminates sound from the rear speakers so you only have bass coming out of them. I cant remember what its called on the pioneer but i would check that. If that doesnt make a difference try unhooking your front speakers and see if you get anymore sound from the rear speakers.

ok ill check both of those thing out tomorrow thanx

double check your wiring, make sure polarity is correct.

Nicer speakers, aka infinitys, sometimes come with external passive xovers with them. If you bought your speakers used make sure that model infinity doesn't use the said supplied xovers. Because if they do, you will see on the speaker itself that there are 2 different pairs of connectors. Like when you get components. For the midbass (lows) and the tweeters (highs)

If you only got bass out of those one set of speakers, this makes me believe this is the case.
