As good as that looks you are worried about some little gaps?? I just pray when i attempt something like that it comes out looking half as good as you did.

looks good, i did the same thing with that spot except i put my cd player down there because i used the double din spot for my tv. Pull your afc and use some glass and then sand it down to the exact size. Just go little by little and keep trying to fit it.

I agree.
It definately looks good but I think you should get some fiberglass and do around it.
Or either don't worry about it and just get a lil black and "paint" the sides of the safc.
:)

1) fiberglass
2) bondo
3) take small diameter vaccum hose, slit it length-wise and use it as an edge trim
4) when some ahole sees the SAFC and steals it, you'll be worried about that big gapping hole... so don't sweat it. You've got other things to worry about.

no fiberglass needed. just a little filler.

rough up the area good first so the filler sticks. then apply a little at a time, and sand away carefully until you have a good fit. repaint black, and a voila!

BTW, i just read your first post about your volt guage, and then i just saw this one. nice install on both! (the gaps aren't bad anyways)

pm me for another idea on how to fit the gap if needed

yea I'm a real stickler for a good install, besides as the club show car I want people to go "holy Crap!"

I'll try to mix up some bondo body filler I wonder if I'll screw it up even more than it is now, don;t worry, I'll be making a full walk through guide for this when I'm done.

thanks for the props yo!

wont you have a problem putting cd's in with it that low??? looks like your shifter will be in the way

I've done some similar tasks using JB Weld as filler. It's not quite as easy to sand as Bondo, but it holds better and is less prone to cracking down the road. Just an idea for you.

the only time that i can't get a cd in is when the shifter is in park. other than that no problems at all. yeah it's an auto :thumb: it just looks better w/ a shift boot & my Greddy shift knob. the cd player is also mounted on a slant, not straight forward. if i'm showing the car off, i just shut it off in neutral and pull the e brake so that it is fully visible.

npe, my alpine Cd player is on the top DIN, and I have to mount it that flush for me to have room to grab my shifter, I do wish it came out a bit more but oh well,

hey devlish, awesome idea on sticking more plastic pieces and sanding them down, I haven't thought of that! well tried bondo filler today, i must have sucked at mixing it cuz it came out like crap, tried exposy clay but it didn;t harden enough.

Yep plastic panels it is tomorow!

Get it all mounted and go around the edges with some Black RTV Silicone. Just get a small tube somewhere, and cut a small hole in the nozzle, then smooth slightly with your finger. Have some rubbing alcohol around, to help clean up.

Or...........when you are mounting it, put some of the RTV on the back, let it ozz out around the edges, smooth it before it dries, or trim it with a razor, after it fully cures.

It really looks good! :thumb:
