Alright, before i get started, i would like to say that i have searched and found some problems to be similar to mine, but not enough to convince me that their fixes would fix my problem: About 3 months ago, i replaced my radiator bcuz there was a huge crack in the old one..no big deal. I put the new one in along with a failsafe thermostat....fine. But i now notice that my car gets up to operating temperature in NO TIME AT ALL....not only that, the temp guage wants to climb up to about 3/4's of the way to the top. it will never go any further than that. but once i get on the road it will get back down to 'around' the normal temp. then if im at a redlight, it will climb back up again. i replaced the coolant temp sensor, no change. Could it be possible that if theres more coolant in the system than water, this could happen? maybe the t-stat is opening too late? With the new radiator in place, it has better flow and maybe its washed some of the old gunk loose? thank you very much for reading this...hope you can help me!

Check your fans. be sure they are wroking (i.e. did you forget to plug them in?). If not fans then suspicion of T-stat (even though its new).

Also be sure that there are no "air bubbles" in your system.

I would try a different thermostat, could have been damaged or it was not put together right.

Its a 195 degree t-stat. Should i go with a 180? I tried to go get the 180* one at oreillys just now and they said they would have to special order it..$18. I just checked the fans, again, and they are working..both are. I did notice that the upper hose was very very hot to the touch, the lower hose wasnt as hot, but it was pretty warm. There is NO boiling of coolant/water in the resevoir as the resevoir wasnt even warm. Im guessing its a bad t-stat. Im going to go check advance or autozone to see if they have a 180* t-stat. If there were 'air bubbles' in the system, is there any quick way to get them out?
Thank you all for the quick replies. Ive been coming to this site for 8yrs+ and your responses/replies have helped me keep my car running! Very much appreciated you guys are!!:thumb:

Well try this to eliminate the thought that the t-stat isn't opening take it out and put it in a pan of boiling water if it opens then then you know the t-stat is opening... did you get the thes stock t-stat cause I wrked at oreillys for 2 years usually the comp only pulls up the one that is the stock replacment...
