Ok, This is a poll as you can probably tell from the tittle  . I am going to list my engine mods (some of which might not be able to be used with one of the options, i am aware of this) then i am going to list 2 options.

4-1 Header, Header-Back Exhaust (straight through, no cat), CAI, Underdrive Pulley, MSD Wires & NGK Plugs (Picking them up this weekend, if going with option B they will be one range colder plugs, what type of plugs are good with boost? Hotter or will one range colder work as well?)

Option A: P&P Intake Manifold, P&P TB, Apex'i SAFC-II, Walbro Fuel Pump (190lph), AEM Cam Gears, Dyno Tune (both cam gears & afc at the same time LOL) & A turbo kit (this might take a while to find as I would have to sit on ebay and look for a kit, I might have someone who would sell me their star stage 1...but i am also looking for kits).

Option B: P&P Intake Manifold, P&P TB, Apex'i SAFC-II, Walbro Fuel Pump (190lph), AEM Cam Gears, Dyno Tune (both cam gears & afc at the same time LOL), Crane 0012 Cams w/ springs, Zex Wet kit (with purge & bottle warmer) & a Race Port Head (5 angle valve job, gasket match intake & exhaust outlets, highly p&p combustion chambers, Deep pocket exhaust outlets).

Ok guys, happy voting! Please respong & vote as i am trying to make a decision & this will certainly help.

TIA,
Mike

I see i am getting votes, by any chance can u drop a response aswell?

Thanks :dsm:

i would do B, because i'm just all all moter person, getting cams, p&p intake header exhaust..exc.. i think all motor is better because theres alot more things to worry about when going to turbo, now if the car came with a turbo that would be diferent story, or if your wanting to get major gains, but thats just me....LOL :thumb:
:laser: Cory :laser:

bump LOL, i see that its 5-4 on option B. LOL All motor vs. Turbo...I am extremly suprise to see the turbo guys haven't stepped up n voted LOL

I picked B just to tie things up and piss you off. :p

Actually, I think going with the second option will make the most of your other mods while a turbo will just stand alone and be working on the same, tired engine. Everyone has to make their own decision on whether or not they want to build the engine first or turbo then rebuild. If you go with the turbo, you will always be tempted to turn up the boost, and wear your shit out sooner. Then you will have to rebuild anyways.

Last summer I had to choose between a rebuild and piecing together my turbo system. I chose to rebuild. It's given me a chance to learn a thing or two about tuning and working on my car. This will be very useful in the future imo. Monday I go pick up a head for my car which can only be described as evil. My bottom end is built. My top end is built. Now I don't have to ask how much boost I can run, but how much boost I want to run. It's a good feeling to not have to worry about the engine being worn out and unable to handle some extra power. Just another view point.

i think i know i will go B, not 100% sure but u kno LOL. But i was tempted by the cool sounds of a bov  . Oh well w/ the zex kit i will have a purge :) Thanks, im going to keep this open, everyone vote n post

Thanks,
mike

Turbo, but Im probably partial. Turbo will give you greater and cheaper growth in the long run. You can only go so far with NA with Nitrous and I think financially youd take a greater hit. Just my opinion though.

i was an "option A, turbo all the way!" guy at first, but the more i look at it, the more i sway to option b. if 2gnt.com has any correct numbers, he could get 20hp from cams, and 40hp from head. thats a 60hp gain at most. while a turbo, running 7psi of boost would get, mathematically, 66hp. now you wont exactly get that due to thermal expansion and what not. you will loose a bit. and thats crank horsepower, and the 2gnt.com estimates are wheel, so crank would be even greater. so were looking at the same amount of horsepower with all of option a, or, possibly even more with just the motor work in option b. now add the nitrous in... thats just sick. but you might need... will need to rebuild, i dont think the rods can handle all of those extra ponies. option b looks like the way to go. :thumb:

Mike: im going to try and finish the install tomarrow... well today actually(1:06am) with my dad... i hope all goes well... just wiring left, ill let you know how it goes. :D

forgot to vote... wow this pole doesnt look like its gonna help you decide

I'm pretty sure those numbers are on the optimisitc side. That page was written something like 4-5 years ago. While it could be possible to get those kinds of numbers from a fully built head and some nasty cams, the average joe isn't going to go all out like that on headwork, and as such, will not see those kinds of gains.

Another thought that ocurrs to me is, instead of getting the race port, see about getting a street port for now. It might save you some cash to pick up something else or you could put it towards new pistons. Just a thought imo.
