I think you guys are missing one good point on the diesel. Direct cyl injection means vitrually no knock/pre-ignition.

Although I bet upgrading the fuel system would be more complicated.

Think about all the deisel trucks lately. Buy a little bolt on box, wire it up and go out mustang huntin' The gung ho guys who start changing hardware are spankin out 12 & 13 second quarters in a 6000+lbs. truck!

But just think of all the troque you could get out of that thing.... Could you think of pulling off the line with 600ish fpt?:rocks: I think it would be sick to see one of them built.... Maybe Banks will be the first one! HAHA

I really think they should take the 2g concept and update it all and it would be fine. And just throw the evo platform in it and be done with it. Im sure doing something that simple would sell like hotcakes because of the 2door awd turbo again which they never should of got rid of. Sometimes I wonder what companies are thinking

i agree, bolt on would be killer on this car. 450hp and 900ft/tq on some bolt on's. I can see it now..... where is my blow off valve on the newbie section.

LOL They called the eclipse a coupe, Idiot.

Ugh... The Eclipse is a coupe. Designed as a coupe marketed as an entry to mid level sports coupe. Go ahead and give your insurance company a call to see what they say.

Wikipedia said:
A coupé (from the French verb couper, to cut) or coupe is a car body style, the precise definition of which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, and over time. Coupés are often sporty variants of sedan (or saloon—see American and British English spelling differences) body styles, reduced from 4 doors to 2, with a close-coupled interior offering either two seats or 2+2 seating (space for two passengers up front and for two occasional passengers in the rear). Before the days of motorized vehicles, the word referred to the front or after compartment of a Continental stagecoach.

Wikipedia said:
The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a sporty four-seat coupe that has been in production since 1989 for left hand drive markets including the United States, Canada, and Taiwan. It was named after an eighteenth century English racehorse which won 26 races,[1] and has also been sold as the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser captive imports through Mitsubishi Motors' close relationship with the Chrysler Corporation. Their partnership was known as Diamond-Star Motors, or DSM.

If they make this car right, I may look into purchasing one since that is right around graduation time.

If a diesel's not knocking, it's turned off.

Hey, look there in the back. It's a four-seater.

But are they really serious about putting those stupid doors on a production car?

I don't see them doing it, but it would be a nice change from the bull they have now. And no one will ever forgive mitsubishi for giving us the 3g and 4g, it just can't be done. The diesel will be a different strategy, and the torque would be insane. But, the question is, will they do it? By the time it finally comes out it'll be a FWD gas powered non-turbo 4th gen :(!

So i must have missed the direct cyl injection part, but if it's on the car that's pretty cutting edge. Not too many diesels have that, and it should help out not only with power but mileage as well.

I dont really care for it. I actually dont like to many concept cars. I dont want cars to look too "futuristic". I hate the way so many concepts look with their stupid swinging doors and fancy ass interiors.LOL

Not sure if any of you have seen this or how credible it is. Found this from anther site and its from youtube so check it out if you like. It appears to be the new concept eclipse from mitsu that will be Turbo/AWD and diesel.

YouTube - Detroit: Mitsubishi RA Concept

Or if that dosnt work search for this: "Detroit: Mitsubishi RA Concept"

Yes I know its not a DSM but it looks promising.

I would roll in that. Pretty kickass with the dual clutch SST, and the S-AWC. To hell with the Lancer Ralliart, make that f*cker instead.

That was a sweet video, I love how the downgrade the 3g and 4g and talk up the dsm's.

that would be great if it was awd/turbo diesel... that's pretty much been my dream for awhile now, ever since i saw a turbo diesel golf running on filtered used veggie oil, and although i can't remember exact numbers, it had great efficiency any hp/flbs...

if this comes out all i'll be waiting for is a small/ mid sized 4wd turbo diesel truck...
