new head unit wont play speakers

ok guys so i just got my new head unit today came acrossed it and figured i would give it a try. i first hooked it up in my house cause it was raining out and didnt wanna deal with that but when in the house it worked great but as soon as i took it out to put it in my car it hooked up and got power everything worked just as it should but as soon as i hooked my ipod up to play a song i realized none of the speakers worked. no static or anything just silent i checked all the wires then yanked it out and hooked it up in the house and speakers worked so i hooked my old radio back up in the car and the speakers worked fine. anybuddy have any ideas

i didnt get mine from ebay but this is the exact radio

has to be a issue with wiring or something man, U should double check everything is hooked up correctly and go from there. Usually when this has happened to me its a short.

hey man first of all thanks for the quick response. i am just so confused on why it just worked 5 minutes before i hooked up the new radio all i did was switch the harness to the new radio

ive tested radios in my house on a battery, installed and didnt work, usually theres a short, the radio cuts power to protect it self and yeh thats it. theres only so much it can be.

I know its new, and you haven't messed with the buttons, and you should still get some sound somewhere...but make sure your balance and fade are not cranked. I doubt thats it, but doesn't hurt to check. You said you got the radio to work in the house? If thats the case then it has to be a short in the harness connection for the car.

Like others have said, ensure when you place your radio back into your car, that you tape up all visible wires and make sure they are hooked up correctly..

i have redone it at least ten times now and currently have my old radio back in the car and everything works fine im so dumb founded by this radio. i can put a movie in it and it will play the movie just with no sound i dont think it have a short cause lik i said the old radio is working right now with sound but the new one wont even get static

is it possible that the amp under the front seat isnt compatible with the head unit or anything like this

I have an idea...did you do any research before trying to install this radio? Because I bet you didn't do either of these:

1. Get a MITAH cable.
2. Bypass your stock amplifier and wire the speakers directly into the radio.

Well you could use a section of speaker wire as a jumper to bypass the stock amp. That would tell you if it's not working with it. I personally just felt the stock amp is a complicated restriction. I believe your supposed to bypass it anyway. I ran speaker wires directly to the front speakers to avoid the stock amp. Your rear speakers should work fine though.

actually when i came across the MITAH i didnt understand what it did exactly, and how good will it sound if i bypass the amp cause this isnt a big name brand head unit i want it to sound decent

did u get a premium sound harness??? idk anything about stock amps, but i guarentee that is your problem now......

ok someone explain to me what happened..... i hooked the new radio up how it was supposed to and was going to cut the stock anp wires and just connect them back together without running them to the amp i was gonna do one speaker at a time so i knew what speaker was what. as soon as i cut the amp harness i lost power so i connected the power and ground together first when i did this all of my speakers started working im so confused about why they worked without running the speaker wires back together but at the same time i dont care and just left it as is
